Lestat is back, and this time he’s a full-blown rockstar. The cast and crew of Anne Rice’s Interview With the Vampire brought major energy to San Diego Comic-Con, showing up to give fans a special look at what’s coming in Season 3 of the AMC+ series.

The big moment came with a brand-new behind-the-scenes teaser. Sam Reid, who plays Lestat, was seen rocking out on stage in full vampire glam, giving a taste of his new role as the undead performer.

The panel didn’t stop there. Five new cast members were announced. Jennifer Ehle is playing Gabriella, Ella Ballentine joins as Baby Jenks, Jeanine Serralles will play Christine Claire, Christopher Heyerdahl steps in as Marius, and Damien Atkins takes on the role of Magnus.

Returning favorites Delainey Hayles and Assad Zaman are also confirmed for Season 3.

Fans in the room got to see three minutes of footage from the upcoming season. It showed a tense talk between Louis and Daniel about the now-published book, a dramatic scene between Louis and Lestat in a boardroom, and plenty of blood, because what’s Interview With the Vampire without that?

The panel also revealed updates about the upcoming spinoff series, Anne Rice’s Talamasca. It’s set to debut on October 26. In a surprise announcement, Eric Bogosian, who plays journalist Daniel Molloy, said he’ll appear in the new show too. That news got the loudest reaction of the day, especially when Daniel showed up on screen in the new Talamasca teaser.

Bogosian told the crowd, “Daniel has dealt with the Talamasca before. The Talamasca has been living on the edges of Daniel Malloy’s consciousness, and now he’s found out that the Talamasca is pulling him in deeper into their world.”

Later that day, the cast and creators stopped by the Comic-Con Variety Studio presented by Google TV to share more about Season 3. Along with Reid and Bogosian, Jacob Anderson (who plays Louis), executive producer Mark Johnson, and showrunner Rolin Jones all joined the conversation.

Some fans were worried the new focus on Lestat might mean less screen time for Louis. Anderson quickly cleared that up. He said, “I can say that Louis is not hugely pleased with the book’s existence, if that is a good tease. I’m here! I’m here.”

Jones followed up with, “No one should worry at all. There’s way more Louis in our show than there is in the book.”

Reid also opened up about learning the music for Lestat’s rockstar scenes before he even saw the scripts. He said, “It was deeply satisfying actually, because the songs are incredible pieces alone, but there’s also a show that we shoot, and it’s got story. There are scenes that exist within the performances, within the actual songs themselves. Layering Rolin’s work on top of [composer Daniel Hart’s] work is quite challenging. They’re very different, but they both have a singular vision. Sometimes I feel like I get caught up in the middle of the whirlwind of the two of them, but I think that works perfectly for a start. He’s all chaos, all the time.”

The series was officially renewed by AMC on June 26, 2024. Season 3 will follow the story of The Vampire Lestat, the second book in Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles. It’s scheduled to premiere in 2026.

Interview With the Vampire has received strong reviews since it launched, with praise for its writing, music, visuals, and performances. It’s also picked up nominations from major awards shows, including the Critics’ Choice Television Awards and the GLAAD Media Awards.
