Cox has been occupied filming the second season of ‘Daredevil Born Again’, a production that kicked off several weeks before his comments and was expected to keep him busy for months. Juggling a Netflix era drama revival with a sprawling ensemble blockbuster is no small logistical puzzle, even for a studio with Marvel’s resources.

There is also the simple matter of real estate within the film itself. The cast for Doomsday is already massive, blending old and new Marvel favorites from the original X-Men lineup to the recently introduced Fantastic Four, leaving little room for every hero fans might want to see. Some outlets have pointed out that with a villain as powerful as Doctor Doom driving the plot, a street level hero like ‘Daredevil’ might simply not fit the scale of the story being told.

Still, Marvel has left the door open in its own way. Studio president Kevin Feige has previously indicated that the cast reveal was not the complete picture, and history backs that up. Benedict Cumberbatch, for example, confirmed his own involvement as Doctor Strange even though he never appeared during the chair reveal event, proving that omission from that broadcast does not automatically mean omission from the finished film.

What This Means for Daredevil’s MCU Future

For now, the most realistic path forward for Murdock inside the wider MCU seems to run through television rather than the big screen. Even though ‘Daredevil Born Again’ has not received an official season two release date, that next chapter is expected to arrive sometime in 2026. That gives Cox a built in platform to keep the character relevant without needing a spot in the Doomsday ensemble.

Fan reaction to all of this has been split. Some longtime followers believe Cox is simply protecting a surprise, drawing comparisons to how Andrew Garfield famously denied his own Spider-Man return before the truth came out.
