The penultimate episode closes by setting up a key finale scene in which Stewart interrogates Thaal Sinestro.

That would be a dramatic turn for a character who began the series as the new kid on the team. The HBO show has veteran Hal Jordan, played by Kyle Chandler, taking rookie John Stewart, played by Aaron Pierre, under his wing.
