Jake Paul caused a stir on social media Sunday after he urged fans to turn off the Super Bowl during Bad Bunny’s halftime show. The influencer and professional boxer shared his thoughts on X, telling followers to skip the performance.

“Purposefully turning off the halftime show,” Paul wrote. “Let’s rally together and show big corporations they can’t just do whatever they want without consequences (which equals viewership for them). You are their benefit. Realize you have power. Turn off this halftime. A fake American citizen performing who publicly hates America. I cannot support that.”

Paul’s criticism is part of a longer pattern of remarks about Bad Bunny. His brother Logan previously commented on the singer in 2022, saying, “I do find it hypocritical because Bad Bunny is a Puerto Rican, living in Puerto Rico, who is privately taking advantage of the same tax program that he is publicly condemning.”

This followed the release of Bad Bunny’s documentary El Apagón – Aquí Vive Gente, which highlighted gentrification and displacement of local Puerto Ricans caused by wealthy newcomers taking advantage of tax incentives.

The Paul brothers themselves moved to Puerto Rico in 2021, citing tax benefits, according to Logan in an interview with Graham Bensinger.

Jake Paul has also been outspoken on other topics. On X, he wrote, “If you don’t like ICE then you can’t call 911 when you’re in trouble. If you don’t respect law enforcement agents then you shouldn’t depend on them.” He later directed a post at Billie Eilish, who criticized ICE at the 2026 Grammys, jokingly calling her “Billie Eyelash” and writing, “When Billie Eyelash gets her home broken into it’s not gonna be f**** ICE I can promise you that.”

Paul’s statements have drawn attention and controversy, highlighting his continued use of social media to make bold political and cultural statements.

Jake Paul’s posts are designed to provoke and spark debate. While he is entitled to his opinion, telling fans to boycott a performance seems extreme. What do you think about Paul’s reaction to Bad Bunny’s halftime show? Share your thoughts in the comments.
