Jason David Frank’s ‘Legend of the White Dragon’ Movie Finally Unleashes New Trailer and Release Details
Fans of Jason David Frank are getting one more chance to see the late actor and Power Rangers icon in action. His original superhero project Legend of the White Dragon is finally heading to theaters, giving fans a chance to experience the movie Frank worked on before his passing.
Frank, best known for playing Tommy Oliver in the Power Rangers franchise, spent years supporting the brand and connecting with fans around the world. Alongside his work in Power Rangers, he developed Legend of the White Dragon as a new superhero story that he hoped audiences would enjoy. While Frank passed away before the movie could be released, the project is now moving forward with help from Well Go USA Entertainment and Bat in the Sun.
A new trailer for the film has been released, showing more of the action and expanding the story behind Frank’s character, Erik Reed, also known as the White Dragon. The footage gives fans a closer look at the battle between White Dragon and his enemy Dragon Prime, as well as the threats facing Reed and the city he once called home.
The trailer also reveals more about the movie’s main conflict. Reed has spent years living as a fugitive after being blamed for a mysterious disaster. Now, he must return to the place where everything started, clear his name, and protect the people he cares about. His mission puts him directly against Dragon Prime, a dangerous figure who could destroy everything Reed is fighting to save.
Legend of the White Dragon will officially arrive in theaters on August 28, 2026. The release date is especially meaningful for fans because it falls on Power Rangers Day, making the event a celebration of Frank’s connection to the franchise and the superhero community he helped build.
According to the announcement from Well Go USA Entertainment and Bat in the Sun, the movie will receive screenings across several major cities, including New York, Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Nashville, Phoenix, Sacramento, and Washington. The film will play in select AMC, Regal, and Century theaters.
Fans attending the Regal Power Rangers Day event will also receive some special extras. The event will include a special video introduction from Jenna Rae Frank, Jason David Frank’s daughter, along with an exclusive collector’s print for ticket holders. A new poster for the movie has also been revealed as part of the celebration.
The cast includes Jason David Frank as Erik Reed, the hero behind the White Dragon identity, with Aaron Schoenke playing Dragon Prime. The film comes from the creative team at Bat in the Sun, known for producing fan-favorite superhero projects and action-focused content.
For many fans, Legend of the White Dragon represents more than just another superhero movie. It is a final opportunity to see Frank’s passion project reach audiences and experience the kind of character he wanted to bring to life.
While the movie began as a personal project from one of Power Rangers’ most recognizable stars, it now stands as a tribute to Frank’s dedication to superhero storytelling and his long relationship with fans.
