Apple TV has confirmed that “Ted Lasso” will return for a fourth season this summer. The new season is scheduled to begin on August 5, with episodes releasing once a week and the finale expected on October 7.

Jason Sudeikis will once again play Ted Lasso, the American football coach who moves to the U.K. to manage a soccer team. He also continues his role behind the scenes as an executive producer on the series.

Many familiar faces are coming back for the new season. This includes Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, and Jeremy Swift. The show is also adding several new actors to the cast such as Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely.

In the new season, Ted returns to Richmond and takes on a new challenge by coaching a women’s team in the second division. The trailer shows him working with a young group of players as he tries to guide them through their early struggles. At one point, someone insults his coaching by saying, “coaching a bunch of girls – you wanker!”

The story for Season 4 focuses on risk-taking and growth. The official description says, “Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.”

Behind the camera, the show continues to grow its production team. Jack Burditt joins as an executive producer under his overall deal with Apple TV. He works alongside returning executive producers including Brendan Hunt, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee, and Bill Wrubel. Bill Lawrence also remains an executive producer through his company Doozer Productions, working with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television.

Writing duties are shared by several names including Leann Bowen, Sarah Walker, Phoebe Walsh, and Julia Lindon. Dylan Marron is serving as story editor, and other producers continue to support the production team across different roles.

Overall, Season 4 brings back the core cast while also expanding the world of the show with new characters and a new direction for Ted as a coach.

From my point of view, this return could be interesting because it puts Ted in a completely new environment with a women’s team, which could bring fresh stories and challenges. It also keeps the heart of the show, which is about growth and teamwork. What do you think about “Ted Lasso” coming back for another season and this new direction?
