Jeffrey Dean Morgan Shares the ‘Red Dead Redemption’ Role He Wants Most

Jeffrey Dean Morgan has made it very clear which video-game hero he wants to bring to live action. During a recent fan event, the actor talked with the crowd and didn’t hide his excitement when someone asked if he’d ever consider playing Arthur Morgan from Red Dead Redemption.

The question came from an audience member, and the moment quickly became one of the highlights of his panel.

As soon as the topic came up, Morgan lit up and answered with energy. He told fans, “Oh f***, that’s the one I want to do!” He followed that by saying it wasn’t even something he needed to think about.

Westerns are his favourite genre, and he reminded everyone how much he enjoys them. He also mentioned that his son plays the game and added, “And it’s freaking awesome!”

Morgan joked that he would jump into a live-action Red Dead Redemption project without hesitation. At one point he laughed and said he’d do it for free, then immediately joked with the crowd not to post that online.

He imagined a studio calling him after “hearing” he’d work for nothing and laughed along with the audience. He later returned to a serious tone and said he would take the role “in a second.”

Morgan’s comments come at a time when game-to-screen adaptations are more common than ever, and fans at the event were quick to react to his enthusiasm.

Arthur Morgan, the character Morgan wants to portray, is one of the central figures of Red Dead Redemption 2. The game received huge praise when it launched. Critics complimented its emotional story, detailed world, strong character writing, and realistic atmosphere. Many reviewers called it one of the best open-world games ever made.
