Jenna Ortega Reveals When ‘Wednesday’ Season 3 Is Set, and Teases What’s Next for the Addams Family
Jenna Ortega has offered a new look at what fans can expect from Wednesday season 3, revealing that the next chapter will move the story into a very different stage of Wednesday Addams’ life.
In an interview with Esquire, Ortega confirmed that the third season will take place during Wednesday’s senior year at Nevermore Academy. The story will reportedly begin about a year after the events of season 2, putting Wednesday and her classmates closer to adulthood.
That change in age will also bring a new set of problems. Ortega explained that the upcoming season will spend more time exploring family, growing up and the uncertainty that comes with deciding what to do with your life.
“This season, especially because the kids are seniors in high school now, we’re dealing with more confrontational feelings regarding family and what it means to be an adult and what you see for your life,” Ortega told Esquire.
She added, “It’s not really until you get to the precipice of adulthood that you start to realize, ‘Oh, God, well, maybe I’ve got to have a plan.’”
The move to senior year could also mark an important turning point for the series. The first season followed Wednesday during her sophomore year, while season 2 brought her back to Nevermore as a junior. Now that she is reaching her final year of high school, the show is getting closer to a natural ending point for its Nevermore storyline.
That does not necessarily mean Wednesday will end after season 3. However, the new season could force the character to start thinking about what comes after Nevermore and whether she even wants a normal path into adulthood.
Family will be another major part of the story. Wednesday’s relationship with her mother, Morticia, has already been complicated, and Ortega’s comments suggest that their problems may become even more serious as Wednesday matures.
The introduction of Morticia’s sister, Ophelia Frump, could make things even more complicated. Eva Green has joined the cast as Ophelia, a character connected to the Addams family’s past. Her arrival could bring old secrets and unresolved family issues back to the surface.
Season 3 is also expanding its cast. Winona Ryder, Chris Sarandon, Oscar Morgan and Kennedy Moyer are among the new additions, while Lena Headey, Andrew McCarthy and James Lance have also joined in undisclosed roles.
Ortega will return alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Joy Sunday, Isaac Ordonez and other returning cast members.
According to the information currently available, production began in February 2026. Netflix has not yet announced an official premiere date, although the new season is expected to arrive sometime in late 2027.
For Wednesday, the next chapter may be less about simply surviving Nevermore and more about figuring out who she wants to become when school is no longer there to define her life.
