Jennifer Aniston is known around the world for her romantic comedies, but her own favorite movie is far from light and fluffy. When it comes to what she loves watching the most, she leans toward a movie that almost always makes her cry.

In the book You Gotta See This, which looks at the personal movie favorites of famous people in Hollywood, Aniston shared that her favorite film of all time is the 1983 comedy-drama Terms of Endearment.

Aniston said she has seen the film hundreds of times over the years. According to her, it does not matter where the movie is when she turns it on. The emotions hit her right away. She explained that her reaction is almost automatic and deeply emotional, as if her body already knows what is coming.

Terms of Endearment was written and directed by James L Brooks and is based on a novel by Larry McMurtry. The film stars Shirley MacLaine, Debra Winger, and Jack Nicholson. It follows the complicated relationship between a mother and daughter over several decades, showing love, conflict, loss, and forgiveness. That long and emotional journey is a big reason why the movie stays with Aniston.

She said certain scenes always break her down emotionally. One of them is the hospital moment where Shirley MacLaine’s character desperately demands medicine for her daughter.

Aniston said that scene always leaves her in tears. She also mentioned that if she ever catches the movie during the goodbye scene between Debra Winger’s character and her children, she completely falls apart. She described herself in those moments as a puddle on the floor.

Even with all the sadness, Aniston also loves the softer and lighter moments in the film. One scene she especially enjoys is when Shirley MacLaine’s character goes on her first date with Jack Nicholson. She likes how the scene shows both attraction and fear at the same time. For Aniston, the movie has the perfect mix of humor, emotion, and strong acting, and she considers it beautifully written.

While she looks back fondly on classic films, Aniston is also very busy with new projects. She recently wrapped work on Season 4 of The Morning Show on Apple TV+. In the new season, her character Alex Levy deals with the fallout of a major media merger, alongside new cast members Marion Cotillard and Jeremy Irons.

She is also preparing for a very different role in an upcoming TV series based on Jennette McCurdy’s memoir, I’m Glad My Mom Died. According to reports, Aniston will star in and executive-produce the show, playing McCurdy’s controlling and abusive mother. The series is being developed with creator Sharon Horgan and marks a darker turn for Aniston compared to her usual roles.

On the film side, there has also been talk of a possible remake of the classic movie 9 to 5. The project is said to be in development through Aniston’s production company, Echo Films. She has reportedly shown interest in bringing in younger stars like Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney to give the story a modern update.
