Jennifer Coolidge Says ‘American Pie’ Fame Led Her To Sleep With 200 Men

Jennifer Coolidge is very open about how one movie changed her life in ways she never expected.

The actress became a household name after playing Stifler’s mom in the hit comedy American Pie. The film came out in 1999 and quickly turned into a cult classic. While the movie is known for its crude humor, Coolidge’s role stood out and made her instantly famous. At the time, she was 38 years old and suddenly seen as the ultimate “MILF” by fans around the world.

Years later, Coolidge admitted that the role had a huge impact on her personal life. Speaking to Variety in 2022, she said the attention she received after the film led to many sexual encounters.

“I got a lot of play being a MILF and I got a lot of s***** action from American Pie,” she said. She added that the fame opened doors she never expected, saying “There were so many benefits to doing that movie. I mean, there would be like 200 people that I would never have slept with.”

Coolidge continued playing Stifler’s mom in several sequels, appearing across four films in the franchise. While the character made her famous, it also came with downsides. She explained in the same Variety interview that Hollywood began to see her only as a comedy figure. After also playing a similar role in the Legally Blonde movies, she felt stuck.

The actress shared how that affected her confidence over time. “The saddest thing about life is that you just make decisions about yourself,” she said. “If I’m not getting great roles, I come to the conclusion that people think I’m incapable of that. And then I make the decision that I am incapable of that.” She explained that it took someone believing in her to change that mindset.
