Jennifer Garner Stars as a Grieving Food Blogger in First Trailer for Peacock’s ‘The Five Star Weekend’

Peacock has released the first full trailer for its upcoming drama The Five Star Weekend, giving viewers a clear look at Jennifer Garner’s new role as a woman trying to rebuild her life after a devastating loss.

The series, which is based on Elin Hilderbrand’s 2023 novel, follows Hollis Shaw, a well-known food blogger and bestselling author played by Garner. After the sudden death of her husband, Hollis struggles to cope with grief and emotional isolation. To help herself heal, she brings together friends from different stages of her life for a weekend retreat, hoping the experience will help her move forward.

As the story unfolds, what starts as a simple gathering slowly turns into something deeper. The women in the group begin to open up, reconnect, and support each other in unexpected ways, forming bonds that challenge their past relationships and personal struggles.

According to the series description, the show centers on a woman trying to deal with loss by recreating a meaningful weekend experience with her friends on Nantucket.

The main cast includes Jennifer Garner, Chloë Sevigny, Regina Hall, Gemma Chan, D’Arcy Carden, Harlow Jane, and Timothy Olyphant. Supporting roles feature David Denman, Josh Hamilton, Rob Huebel, Judy Greer, West Duchovny, and others, adding a wide ensemble to the story’s emotional core.

The series was developed by Bekah Brunstetter, who also wrote the adaptation. Minkie Spiro serves as both director and executive producer. Other executive producers include Sue Naegle, Ali Krug, Elin Hilderbrand, and Merri Howard. The show is produced by Universal Content Productions, a division of Universal Studio Group.

In a statement tied to the project, the production team highlighted the emotional focus of the story, which explores friendship, grief, and personal reinvention through shared experiences.

The first season will consist of eight episodes and is scheduled to premiere on Peacock on July 9. The show is expected to release all episodes within its debut window, making it a full limited-series experience for viewers.

Filming for The Five Star Weekend took place in Los Angeles on a soundstage and later on location in Nantucket, giving the series its coastal setting and summery atmosphere.

With its mix of emotional storytelling, strong ensemble cast, and a focus on friendship during difficult times, The Five Star Weekend is shaping up to be one of Peacock’s major drama releases for 2026.
