She is joining the producing team for the fall 2026 revival of Dreamgirls, twenty years after her Oscar-winning role as Effie White. The new production is being directed and choreographed by Camille A. Brown, making history as the first Black woman to hold both roles on Broadway in over sixty years.
Twenty years ago, my life changed forever because of a film called Dreamgirls, Hudson said in a statement. I am beyond honored to join the extraordinary producing team behind this special, newly reimagined Broadway revival.
Hudson is also preparing for a North American tour as a special guest for Josh Groban starting in June, performing in cities like Montreal, New York, and Chicago. The tour will give fans a chance to experience her powerful voice live and hear both classic hits and new music.
