Jennifer Lawrence Talks Shooting Nude Scene on Day One of ‘Die My Love’
Jennifer Lawrence is opening up about an intense start to filming her latest movie, Die My Love. She shared the story during a recent roundtable conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, alongside fellow actors Amanda Seyfried and Cynthia Erivo.
Lawrence said director Lynne Ramsay wanted her and co-star Robert Pattinson to feel comfortable with each other before cameras rolled. To do that, Ramsay set up interpretative dance sessions before filming began.
According to Lawrence, the idea was awkward at first but helpful. “Lynne Ramsay had me and Rob Pattinson do interpretative dance lessons before we started filming,” she said.
Things moved fast once filming started. Lawrence revealed that the very first day on set involved a nude scene between her and Pattinson. “Our first day on set was a naked scene where we were attacking each other like tigers,” she shared. She added that doing it right away made things easier. “It was kind of nice that it was day one because then it wasn’t hanging over our heads.”
Amanda Seyfried reacted to the story during the roundtable and praised the approach. “That’s actually brilliant. And if you know what the genitals look like, you don’t wonder,” she joked. Cynthia Erivo then shared her own bonding experience with Ariana Grande, noting it was much calmer. “We just went to my house and sat on the floor and ate crudités,” she said. When Lawrence asked if anyone was naked, Erivo replied simply, “Nobody was naked.”

Die My Love is directed by Lynne Ramsay and is based on the novel by Ariana Harwicz. The film follows Grace, played by Lawrence, a young mother living in rural Montana who struggles with severe postpartum depression and psychosis. Her condition begins to destroy her marriage to her husband, played by Pattinson, and her sense of reality. The cast also includes LaKeith Stanfield, Nick Nolte, and Sissy Spacek.
The movie premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, where it competed for the Palme d’Or. Critics responded positively, especially praising Lawrence’s performance and Ramsay’s direction. Lawrence later earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Drama. The film was released in U.S. theaters by Mubi in November and became Ramsay’s highest-grossing movie to date.
