When Brett Goldstein sat down to co-write a Netflix romantic comedy, he reportedly had one star in mind for the female lead. He wrote ‘Office Romance‘ with Joe Kelly, who was also part of the ‘Ted Lasso’ writing team, and specifically pictured Jennifer Lopez in the role. Few writers get to see their dream casting come true, and fewer still get a promo tour with this much buzz.

In the film, Lopez plays the CEO of an airline company who unexpectedly falls for a lawyer at her firm, played by Goldstein. Ol Parker directed, and the movie landed on Netflix on June 5. Their chemistry on the red carpet was hard to miss, with Goldstein wrapping an arm around Lopez’s waist at the New York premiere as the two traded smiles and laughs for the cameras.

Now the speculation has taken a new turn. A report on October 19 claims that Lopez and Goldstein are casually dating, with a source saying the two are seeing each other but keeping things casual.

The latest chatter comes from a talent manager’s party in Los Angeles on October 16. Lopez reportedly entered with her longtime manager, Benny Medina, while Goldstein walked in on his own, and the pair made a point of entering separately. They then left together and reportedly shared the same car.

According to the source, the two share a love of going out to parties and restaurants. The insider also took a swipe at Lopez’s ex, Ben Affleck, saying he always seemed to have a scowl on his face when they were out.

That detail matters because the pair had denied it. During an appearance on TODAY on June 2, Savannah Guthrie asked directly whether they were dating in real life, and Lopez answered “Not dating” while Goldstein replied “Correct.”

Lopez also explained that she is always paired with whoever she works with, and that it doesn’t make the rumors true. Goldstein joked that simply standing near her is enough to set off the speculation. Their reps did not return requests for comment on the new report.

Lopez did not exactly help her case. On ‘Watch What Happens Live,’ she told Andy Cohen that Goldstein was the best kisser she had worked with on screen. That is a bold line for someone insisting she isn’t dating her co-star.

Earlier reporting suggested the two kept things professional on set while filming, though their chemistry was undeniable. Goldstein also described a first meeting over Zoom that clicked instantly, saying the two were laughing right away.

For now, neither star has publicly confirmed the relationship. The source’s description of the arrangement as casual suggests there is no rush to define it, and that fits a woman who has been navigating life since filing for divorce from Affleck in August 2024.

Goldstein, for his part, has historically kept his romantic life private. The two are 57 and 46 respectively, an age gap that has already become part of the online conversation, though what matters to most fans is whether the romance holds up off screen.

With a premiere’s worth of smiles, a denial, a party exit and a very quotable kiss review on the record, the story is far from settled.
