Jennifer Lopez Reacts to ‘Off Campus’ Recreating Her Iconic Versace Jungle Dress
The Versace jungle dress is back in the spotlight again, and this time Jennifer Lopez herself is reacting to it in a big way. The pop star responded online after a scene from Prime Video’s “Off Campus” went viral.
In the series, actress Mika Abdalla wears a recreation of Lopez’s famous green Versace dress from the 2000 Grammys. The moment happens during a costume party scene in the second episode. Her character, Allie Hayes, walks into the party wearing the dress just as Lopez’s song “On the Floor” starts playing. She then reacts with shock and excitement, saying, “Oh my god, wait! This is me!” while dancing along to the music.
The scene quickly spread online and caught Lopez’s attention. She reacted on X, clearly enjoying what she saw. Lopez wrote, “love this shooooww,” while sharing the viral clip that fans were already talking about.
Mika Abdalla later spoke about the process of recreating the dress in an interview with Betches UK. She explained that the outfit was carefully built from scratch and took multiple fittings before it was ready. She said, “My first fitting was like, put on this nude leotard and we’re going to cut it up and pin all this s—t to you. It was like five fittings. It was insane.” She also said she felt fully prepared in the outfit and ready to perform the scene.
The original Versace dress worn by Lopez at the 2000 Grammys became one of the most talked-about fashion moments in pop culture history. It was so widely searched online that it played a role in the creation of Google Image Search. Lopez later brought the look back in 2019 when she walked the Versace runway in a new version of the dress during Milan Fashion Week.
Lopez has also previously talked about how much preparation went into wearing the original outfit. She explained that everything had to be carefully secured for performance, saying, “There was never any danger of that. I was so securely stuck into that thing that there was gonna be no mishaps.”

“Off Campus,” the show featuring the recreated look, is based on Elle Kennedy’s bestselling book series. It premiered on Prime Video on May 13 and follows a college romance story that mixes drama, humor, and relationships.
The viral moment has now connected two generations of pop culture fashion, bringing Lopez’s iconic dress back into conversation once again, this time through a TV series that clearly caught her attention in a positive way.
