Jenny Slate Labels Justin Baldoni a “Most Intense Narcissist” and Clown in Court Filing

The legal battle over the film It Ends With Us has escalated after new court documents were released on Tuesday.

According to Variety, the filings include testimony from Blake Lively, Jenny Slate, and Isabela Ferrer, who all said they felt uncomfortable and disrespected by director and co-star Justin Baldoni during filming. The documents describe a workplace that many cast members considered tense and inappropriate.

Jenny Slate, who played Lively’s best friend Allysa in the movie, spoke about Baldoni’s frequent comments on Lively’s appearance. She said he often called Lively “hot” and “s***.”

Slate added that Baldoni made similar remarks toward her, which she felt crossed professional boundaries. “I assumed there was an understanding of — ‘We’re not doing this anymore,’” she said. “It’s not appropriate anymore. It never was appropriate, but it’s not appropriate in a workplace.”

Slate also shared text messages she sent criticizing Baldoni. She called him a “narcissist” and a “fraud” and questioned his public image as a male feminist. “Justin is truly a false ally and I’m unwilling to do anything that promotes the image that he’s crafting as a ‘male feminist,’” she wrote. She also added, “I honestly have never ever encountered anything like this dude. He’s the biggest clown and the most intense narcissist.”

Lively also raised concerns about a birth scene where she was in stirrups for hours while nearly nude. She said she only found out that day that the actor playing the doctor was a friend of Baldoni. “I was extremely uncomfortable with the degree to which I was exposed during the Birth Scene, which felt violative and humiliating,” she said. “I had to request a blanket to be given to me for privacy between takes, which was not always provided.”

Justin Baldoni is best known for his role as Rafael Solano on Jane the Virgin and has directed films such as Five Feet Apart and Clouds. Jenny Slate is a comedian and actress known for Saturday Night Live and Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, and she played a key supporting role in It Ends With Us.

It Ends With Us is based on Colleen Hoover’s 2016 novel, which became a viral hit on TikTok years later. The story follows Lily Bloom as she navigates a toxic relationship with neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid while reconnecting with her first love, Atlas Corrigan. Despite the controversy, the film has grossed over $300 million worldwide.

The unsealed documents have shined a light on the tension behind the scenes of the film and sparked debate about workplace boundaries in Hollywood.
