Jeremy Renner might be gearing up for another round as Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and this time, he’s doing it with even more fire than before. After surviving a terrifying snowplow accident in early 2023, the actor is not only walking again but also training like he never left.

Renner opened up in a new interview with Empire, saying he’s ready to jump back into action. “I’m always happy to be in that world, man,” he said about Marvel. “I love all those guys, I love the character.” When asked about the possibility of Hawkeye Season 2, he didn’t hold back: “I’m sure we’ll end up doing Season 2, and do other things. And I’m happy to do it. My body’s getting ready for something like that. I don’t know if anybody wants to see me in tights, but my body will look good in the tights.”

That’s a big statement from someone who was nearly crushed by a 14,000-pound snowplow. Renner spent months recovering and rebuilding his strength.

And now, he says he feels better than he did before the accident. “Absolutely. No problem,” he said when asked if he could still pull off Hawkeye’s famous aerial arrow shot from The Avengers. “That’s where I’m at. I’m more than 150 percent of what I was prior to the incident.”

Renner also explained how his approach to fitness has changed. Before, he’d train just ahead of a big role. But now? Staying healthy is part of his daily life. “Having health and wellness be such a central part of my life, that’s what’s gotten me back,” he shared.

“Even as I age, I just feel stronger than I’ve been.” He did admit to having some physical limits now, like tendon problems and less flexibility, but he said all the rehab work has made him stronger. “I wouldn’t if I didn’t get crushed,” he added.

Despite his enthusiasm, Renner revealed that things haven’t been so smooth behind the scenes. In a past interview, he mentioned being offered a spot in Hawkeye Season 2 — but at only half the pay of Season 1. He said the new offer meant the same workload, possibly even more because of his recovery, but for much less money.

He didn’t blame Marvel or Disney directly, pointing the finger at the studio’s accountants instead. Renner stood firm and turned the offer down, saying he had to stand up for himself.

Even with those frustrations, Renner said he still loves playing Clint Barton and would gladly come back, but he’s also prepared to move on if things don’t work out. It’s not clear if we’ll see him wear the suit again, but he hasn’t completely ruled it out either.

Let’s just hope Marvel and Renner can work something out. Losing his version of Hawkeye would definitely leave a gap in the MCU.
