Jessie J seems to address her split from Channing Tatum in a new song from her upcoming album. During a recent listening party in London for Don’t Tease Me with a Good Time, the singer, 37, shared her track Threw It Away, which appears to reference her breakup with the Magic Mike star in 2020, according to The Sun.

Jessie did not mention Tatum by name but sang about an ex she called a “beast.” “This next song I wrote in 2020 with Ryan Tedder, and you can figure out who I was dating,” she said, per The Sun.

In the song, Jessie sings: “I put my heart out on the table / That’s when it got uncomfortable / But oh that karma is gonna come one day / ’Cause I gave you my love and you threw it away.” Later, she adds: “Don’t you dare rewrite the story / I’m the beauty, you’re the beast.”

Jessie and Tatum were first linked in October 2018 and confirmed to be dating shortly after Tatum’s split from ex-wife Jenna Dewan, with whom he shares a daughter, Everly. The couple reconciled in January 2020 after a brief split but ultimately ended their relationship later that year. A source told PEOPLE at the time that the breakup was “totally amicable” and that while they cared for each other, the timing was off.

The singer also opened up about her health during the listening party. After being diagnosed with early breast cancer, Jessie underwent a mastectomy in June. “I’m grateful for the lessons and grateful for the connectivity it’s given me with so many people having cancer,” she said, according to The Sun. She added, “And I’ve been a better parent, I’ve been a better person.”

Jessie now shares a son, Sky Safir, with her boyfriend Chanan Colman, born in May 2023. Her new album, Don’t Tease Me with a Good Time, is set to release on Friday, Nov. 28.
