Jimmy Kimmel Calls Out Trump Over ICE Shooting Death: “This Maniac”
Jimmy Kimmel called out President Donald Trump after he defended an ICE agent involved in the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old U.S. citizen, in Minneapolis on January 7. The incident left the woman dead, and the ICE officer is reportedly recovering in the hospital.
Trump posted on Truth Social defending the officer, saying the shooting was self-defense and blaming the incident on “the Radical Left threatening, assaulting and targeting our Law Enforcement Officers and ICE Agents on a daily basis.”
In his post, Trump wrote, “I have just viewed the clip of the event which took place in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is a horrible thing to watch. The woman screaming was, obviously, a professional agitator, and the woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who seems to have shot her in self defense.”

Trump continued, “The situation is being studied, in its entirety, but the reason these incidents are happening is because the Radical Left is threatening, assaulting, and targeting our Law Enforcement Officers and ICE Agents on a daily basis. They are just trying to do the job of MAKING AMERICA SAFE. We need to stand by and protect our Law Enforcement Officers from this Radical Left Movement of Violence and Hate!”
Kimmel addressed the post during his January 7 monologue, calling Trump a “maniac.” He added, “Now, I saw this video. It didn’t look like anybody got run over to me. It looked to me like a woman got scared, tried to drive away, and they shot her. That’ll be for the court to decide.”
Kimmel also played a clip of Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey criticizing Trump’s defense of the shooting, saying, “This was an agent recklessly using power that resulted in somebody dying, getting killed. And I have a message for ICE… Get the f**** out of Minneapolis.”
This is not the first time Kimmel has publicly criticized Trump in response to a tragic event. Last month, the late filmmaker Rob Reiner’s death prompted Trump to comment that it was linked to anger he caused in others through “Trump derangement syndrome.” Kimmel responded by calling Trump “hateful and vile.”
Reflecting on the Minneapolis incident, Kimmel said, “What we need at a time like this, besides common sense when it comes to guns and mental health care, is compassion and leadership. We did not get that from our president, because he has none of it to give. Instead, we got a fool rambling about nonsense.”
