Jimmy Kimmel Roasts Trump Over His Obsession With the Nobel Prize
Jimmy Kimmel had some fun at Donald Trump’s expense this week, teasing the president over his constant talk about winning a Nobel Peace Prize. The late-night host’s jokes came just hours before Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado was named the actual winner.
According to the Nobel Committee, Machado was honored for her “tireless work promoting democratic rights and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy.”
She’s been one of the strongest voices against President Nicolás Maduro’s rule and has faced threats and persecution for years. Nobel officials said, “When authoritarians seize power, it is crucial to recognize courageous defenders of freedom who rise and resist.”
Trump, on the other hand, has been saying for a while that he deserves the Peace Prize. He recently claimed he has “stopped seven wars” and told supporters last month that “everyone says that I should get the Nobel Peace Prize.”
He also posted on Truth Social that “Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan,” saying hostages would soon be released and Israeli troops would pull back to an agreed position.
After Machado’s win was announced, Trump’s communications director Steven Cheung issued a statement defending him. He said, “President Trump will continue making peace deals, ending wars, and saving lives. He has the heart of a humanitarian, and there will never be anyone like him who can move mountains with the sheer force of his will. The Nobel Committee proved they place politics over peace.”
Before the announcement, Kimmel had already poked fun at Trump on his show. Referring to Trump’s latest peace claims, he said, “Trump says Israel and Hamas have agreed to phase one of the peace plan he forced on them because they’re giving out the Nobel Peace Prize tomorrow.”
He went on to joke, “Trump wants that Nobel Prize so badly. I’ve seen a lot of Oscar and Emmy campaigns, but no one has ever vied for an award more vigorously than our Donnie Lama.”

Kimmel didn’t stop there. He sarcastically added, “No one has suffered more unfairness than him. He’s had it hard, guys. He’s had it really hard.” He then mocked Trump’s claim that he wasn’t campaigning for the award, saying, “He claims he’s not ‘politicking’ for the Peace Prize, which must be why the White House posted this very subtle message calling him the peace president. The peace president is sending a platoon to invade a yoga studio in Portland right now.”
