John Cena Makes History: Wins Intercontinental Championship, Completes Grand Slam
John Cena has added another milestone to his legendary WWE career by winning the Intercontinental Championship, officially completing the Grand Slam.
The 17-time WWE Champion captured the title on the Nov. 10 episode of Raw, marking a historic moment as part of his farewell tour. The event took place in his home state of Massachusetts, where Cena addressed the crowd before the match, introduced by WWE chief content officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque.
The match was set after Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio interrupted Cena’s promo, claiming he was better than Cena in his prime. Levesque decided the confrontation would become a title match on the spot.
Despite some early setbacks, including an ignored submission and Mysterio attempting to cheat, Cena ultimately triumphed. “He countered a Frog Splash and delivered an Attitude Adjustment to Mysterio and got the pin to finally capture the Intercontinental Championship,” according to WWE reports.

This victory is particularly meaningful for Cena, as the Intercontinental Championship had eluded him until now. To complete the Grand Slam, a WWE wrestler must win the WWE Championship, Intercontinental Championship, United States Championship, and a Tag Team Championship. Cena had previously secured the other three titles multiple times, including five United States Championships and four Tag Team Championships, as well as being the first-ever 17-time WWE Champion.
Although Cena has had a decorated career with numerous titles and victories such as the Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank, this was his first official televised match for the Intercontinental Championship. His win comes as a tournament begins to determine his final opponent, adding another layer of excitement to his farewell tour.
Cena’s career continues to set records and inspire fans, proving once again why he is considered one of WWE’s all-time greats. “It’s another mark for the future WWE Hall of Famer, as he captures the one title he never won,” WWE confirmed.
