John Cena Wishes for Iron Man to Meet Superman in Possible MCU Crossover, Comments on His Potential MCU Role
John Cena, who is well known as Peacemaker in the DC Universe, recently talked about the idea of crossing over into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). At FAN EXPO Dallas, Cena shared his hopes that superheroes from different franchises could someday come together. He said he would love to see characters like Iron Man and Superman meeting in the same universe.
When asked if he wanted to join the MCU, Cena gave a thoughtful answer. He explained that his dream is for all superheroes to exist in one big world where they can interact. “I would love Iron Man to shake hands with Superman. I would love to see all superheroes across all platforms be involved in a universe,” he said. However, he added that he doesn’t make the decisions about casting, so for now, he isn’t part of the MCU.
Cena made it clear that it’s not just about being in Marvel movies. He hopes that bringing characters together could lead to new stories and more creativity. “I hope we can have different debates because it’ll just give us more stories to tell, and more creativity,” he said.
He also admitted that some people might disagree with him, but he wants to see stories that include heroes from both DC and Marvel. “My long term vision is we can tell stories with characters from both sides of the fence,” he added.
The idea of a Marvel and DC crossover isn’t new. James Gunn, who is now co-CEO of DC Studios and has worked with Marvel before, has also mentioned the possibility. In a past interview, Gunn said, “That could easily happen… But I also think people are a little over it. I think people wanna see good stories with their superheroes and that’s what matters.” He emphasized that even big crossovers need strong writing to work. “Just having Spider-Man and Superman team up isn’t gonna do it if it’s shit,” he said.
Right now, there are no official plans for a Marvel and DC crossover. Still, the idea remains popular among fans and some creators in the industry. Cena and Gunn both seem open to the possibility if the story and timing are right.
In my opinion, a Marvel and DC crossover would be exciting, but it needs to be done carefully. Fans want great stories, not just big team-ups for the sake of it. What do you think about this idea?
