Jon Stewart took aim at Donald Trump on this week’s episode of “The Daily Show” after the president received FIFA’s first-ever Peace Prize. Stewart criticized Trump for accepting the award while the U.S. was reportedly increasing military pressure on Venezuela.

Stewart opened Monday’s show by discussing the recent FIFA World Cup draw. While fans focused on the tournament groups, Stewart joked that the real question was “who would win FIFA’s first Peace Prize?”

He added, “Because when I think of one sport that fosters peaceful coexistence, it’s the beautiful game. All right, here we go! Who’s it going to be?”

During the broadcast, FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced Trump as the inaugural recipient. Stewart reacted with sarcasm, exclaiming, “Oh, my god! Oh, my god! Oh, my god! He won the prize specifically created to appease him! The FIFA appease-prize!”

He later added, “The craziest part wasn’t necessarily Donald Trump being awarded an entirely fictitious golden butt plug. It was the cognitive dissonance of flipping over to the news channels, post-peace ceremony.”

Stewart then showed clips from news outlets reporting that the U.S. is “on the brink of war with Venezuela” and that Trump is “ramping up the pressure” on President Nicolás Maduro.

Stewart mocked the timing, saying, “The brink of war? President Trump, did this meaningless award mean nothing to you?” He continued joking, “By the way, if you think they’re not serious about Venezuela, they seem to be setting a pretty nice table,” referencing the Pentagon’s deployment of ships to the region.

The FIFA Peace Prize, introduced this year, is described as an award for someone who has taken “exceptional and extraordinary actions for peace and by doing so have united people across the world.” FIFA presented the prize to Trump before the World Cup draw, but the selection process has been unclear.

Despite this, Trump accepted the trophy, a medal, and a certificate, thanking FIFA and claiming the award was “truly one of the great honors of my life.”

While Trump has helped broker some international agreements, some of the conflicts he referenced in his acceptance speech, including tensions between India and Pakistan, have been disputed by the countries involved. The award also highlights the growing visibility of Trump and Infantino together, who have been seen at events like Trump’s inauguration and the Sharm El-Sheikh peace summit earlier this year.
