In 2025, Jonathan Kent, the son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, will take on a new name in DC Comics: Super Son. This change comes from DC Comics to avoid confusion with James Gunn’s Superman movie, set to release this summer. Instead of being called Superman or Superman Jr., Jonathan will now be Super Son in the new Secret Six series.

The Secret Six series starts in April 2025, with its first issue already out on March 5, 2025. In the early issues, Jonathan will be listed as both Jonathan Kent and Super Son. By the end of the series, he’ll be fully known as Super Son or Superman’s Son. This marks a big shift for his character.

In the story, Jonathan teams up with heroes like Dreamer and villains like Deadshot. They’re racing against time to find Amanda Waller, who has disappeared. The group doesn’t always get along, but they must work together to uncover secrets and face tough challenges. The series is written by Nicole Maines, known for playing Dreamer on Supergirl, and drawn by Stephen Segovia. It promises action, twists, and high stakes.

DC’s decision to rename Jonathan as Super Son is all about keeping things clear. With the Superman movie focusing on Clark Kent, they don’t want fans mixing up the comic and film versions. The first issue is already in stores, and the full series kicks off soon.

I think this is a smart move by DC. Giving Jonathan a fresh identity like Super Son keeps the comics exciting and separate from the movie. It’s a chance to see him grow in a new way, and the team-up with heroes and villains sounds fun. What do you think about Jonathan becoming Super Son? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
