Josh Duhamel & Minka Kelly Return to ‘Ransom Canyon’ in New Trailer With Season 2 Release Date Revealed
Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly’s Ransom Canyon romance is about to face new challenges. Netflix has released the first trailer for season 2 of the Western drama, giving fans a look at what’s ahead when the series returns on July 23.
The new trailer, brings viewers back to the Texas Hill Country and the quiet town where love, family, and old conflicts continue to shape everyone’s lives. Minka Kelly’s Quinn O’Grady returns home after spending time away, while Josh Duhamel’s Staten Kirkland is still dealing with the emotional weight of his past.
The preview begins with Quinn taking in the beauty of Ransom Canyon as she talks about the special connection she feels with the town. “Shhh, just listen,” she says before the trailer shows wide landscapes, horseback rides, and peaceful moments around the lake.
For Quinn, returning home means facing unfinished feelings. She and Staten have always had a strong connection, but season 2 will test whether they can finally move forward together. In one emotional scene, Staten tells her, “I miss you Quinn. And I’m not going to make the same mistake twice.”
However, their relationship will not be simple. The trailer introduces Oliver, played by Ben Robson, who appears to become a possible new romantic interest for Quinn. When Oliver meets Staten, the tension between the two men is clear, especially when Staten admits he has never heard of him.
The new season will continue exploring the personal struggles of the residents of Ransom Canyon. Along with Staten and Quinn’s complicated love story, other relationships will also face major changes, including Yancy (Jack Schumacher) and Ellie (Marianly Tejada), as well as young couple Lauren (Lizzy Greene) and Lucas (Garrett Wareing).

The trailer suggests that while the characters may go through difficult moments, love remains at the center of the story. One emotional moment features Claire, played by Patricia Clarkson, telling Staten, “Love is a canyon, it feels impossible to cross. But once you make it to the other side, it’s damn near breathtaking.”
Based on the book series by author Jodi Thomas, Ransom Canyon follows several families whose lives are connected by the land and history of their small Texas community. The series focuses on ranch owner Staten Kirkland, who is grieving the loss of his wife and son, and Quinn, a pianist who returns home to manage Gracie’s local bar and dance hall.
Season 1 ended with major changes for both characters. Staten lost his position as trustee of his family ranch, while Quinn ended her relationship with Davis and left for the New York Philharmonic. The upcoming season will pick up after her return and explore whether she is finally ready to give Staten a real chance.
Series creator April Blair explained that the emotional heart of the new episodes is centered around relationships and finding where people belong. “All of our stories come from those three places: What are you leaving behind? Who do you love? What does home and this place, this land mean to you?” Blair told Tudum.
She also teased that romance will play a bigger role in the new season. “Love is at the forefront this season, and it’s really about people fighting for those relationships and fighting to figure out how to be with the person they want to be with,” she said.
Ransom Canyon season 2 arrives on Netflix on July 23, with the first season currently available to stream.
