Justin Theroux Teases His Character in ‘Devil Wears Prada 2’: “Rich and Stupid”
Justin Theroux has wrapped filming on The Devil Wears Prada 2, where he plays a “forward-leaning, rich and stupid” character.
The actor recently sat down with Variety and said the role was “a blast” to perform and highlighted the excitement of reuniting with Emily Blunt on set.
He also praised sharing scenes with Meryl Streep, calling it “such a pleasure and an honor” after watching her performances throughout his life.
The sequel, directed by David Frankel and written by Aline Brosh McKenna, is based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2013 novel Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns. It continues the story of the original 2006 film and brings back familiar faces, including Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, Anne Hathaway as Andrea “Andy” Sachs, Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton, and Stanley Tucci as Nigel Kipling. Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman also return in their original roles.
In addition to the returning cast, the film adds several new faces, including Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, Rachel Bloom, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Conrad Ricamora, Sydney Sweeney, Donatella Versace, and Lady Gaga.
Principal photography began on June 30, with filming taking place across New York City, Milan, and other locations. Key scenes were shot at Newark Airport and during Milan Fashion Week. By mid-October, the bulk of filming had wrapped, with the final cast members completing their scenes later that month.
Theroux’s role promises to bring humor to the sequel, balancing the high-fashion drama fans expect with comedic elements. He described the experience as exciting, saying the cast and crew were fully aware of the iconic movie they were creating.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set to hit theaters in the United States on May 1, 2026, and fans are eager to see both the returning characters and the new additions to the star-studded cast.
