Kate Hudson has been busy promoting her new movie, Song Sung Blue, as it continues to make waves ahead of awards season. On Friday, January 30, the 46-year-old actress attended a special screening at the Charlotte Street Hotel in London, where she took part in a question-and-answer session with fans about her role.

Hudson is up for Best Actress at the 98th Academy Awards for her portrayal of Claire Sardina, a woman in a true story about a couple who forms a Neil Diamond tribute band. For the screening, Kate wore a stylish plaid blazer with matching trousers and a simple blue shirt.

To prepare for the role, Hudson spent time getting to know the real Claire Sardina. Despite some family members being unhappy with the film, Claire herself has expressed gratitude for the project. Hudson told Deadline, Claire is so happy and my relationship with Claire and telling her story and this love story – it’s such a love letter to them. She added that she feels fortunate to have Claire’s approval.

Before arriving in London, Hudson had been in Paris for Fashion Week. She attended several top shows, including the Giorgio Armani Privé show, sitting front row alongside stars like Michelle Pfeiffer and Diane Kruger.

Song Sung Blue is now in theaters and features Hudson performing alongside Hugh Jackman. The film has stirred some controversy, with Claire Sardina’s son publicly criticizing the biopic. Hudson, however, told The Hollywood Reporter that she prefers to focus on the filmmakers’ vision and her connection to Claire rather than the family disputes.

Kate Hudson has shown dedication and heart in bringing Claire’s story to the screen. Between her performance and the Oscar buzz, this could be one of her most important roles yet.
