Kevin Feige is giving Marvel fans a reason to get even more excited for ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ teasing that the upcoming MCU event will deliver an ending that could leave audiences both surprised and satisfied.

During a recent discussion, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige was asked about what fans can expect from the next Avengers movie. While he avoided revealing any major details, he suggested that the film’s conclusion will create plenty of conversation before the release of ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’

“I don’t want to spoil anything, but I think [fans] will be incredibly satisfied and yet incredibly surprised of where it’s headed, and then we’ll have a hard time waiting a year for [Secret Wars],” Feige said.

The comments have added even more mystery around ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ which is expected to become one of the biggest Marvel projects ever made. The film will serve as the next major Avengers story following the events of ‘Avengers: Endgame’ and will bring together heroes from different corners of the Marvel universe.

The movie will be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who previously guided Marvel through major crossover events including ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame.’ The screenplay is being written by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely, with McFeely also returning after helping write several previous MCU films.

One of the biggest surprises surrounding the project was Marvel’s decision to bring back Robert Downey Jr., but this time in a completely different role. Instead of returning as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Downey Jr. will play Doctor Doom, one of Marvel’s most famous villains.

The story will bring together multiple groups of heroes as they face Doom’s growing threat. The Avengers, Wakandans, the New Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men will all play a role as different universes collide.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ became a major turning point for Marvel’s Multiverse Saga after the studio changed direction from its original plans. The movie was initially announced as ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,’ with Kang the Conqueror expected to be the main villain. However, Marvel moved away from that storyline following Jonathan Majors’ departure from the franchise.

The studio later announced the return of the Russo brothers, the casting of Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, and the new title ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ in 2024. The changes completely reshaped the next Avengers storyline and opened the door for characters from different Marvel eras to appear together.

The film is also expected to continue Marvel’s growing connection between the current MCU and the previous X-Men movies from 20th Century Fox. With the multiverse allowing different versions of characters to exist together, fans are expecting several major surprises when the heroes finally meet.

Production on ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ took place in 2025, with filming based at Pinewood Studios in England along with additional locations. The movie is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase Six of the MCU.

The follow-up film, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ is expected to continue the story and arrive one year later on December 17, 2027. If Feige’s comments are any indication, Marvel is hoping ‘Doomsday’ ends with a major cliffhanger that keeps fans talking while they wait for the next chapter.

With the return of the Russo brothers, the arrival of Doctor Doom, and the reunion of heroes from different universes, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s most ambitious projects yet.
