Kourtney Kardashian Threatens to Throw Hands With Jennifer Lawrence Over ‘Annoying’ Insult, Then the Apology Email Lands
Few celebrity friendships are as unusual as the one between Jennifer Lawrence and the Kardashian-Jenner clan. The Oscar winner has long described herself as a die-hard fan of the family’s reality shows, and she even popped up briefly on an episode of ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ in 2019. Her bond with matriarch Kris Jenner runs deep enough that Kris attended her wedding.
That closeness is exactly why one offhand comment last year landed with such a thud. In a Vanity Fair lie detector interview shared in November 2025, Lawrence sat beside her ‘Die My Love’ co-star Robert Pattinson and cheerfully admitted she wasn’t keeping up with the latest season. She also named Khloé as her favorite Kardashian without hesitation.
Then came the line that lit up the internet. Lawrence said Kourtney was more annoying than ever and drove her nuts, explaining that everything has to be an announcement. Now, Kourtney has finally responded, and she did it on the ‘The Kardashians‘ season 8 premiere, which debuted on Hulu on October 8.
In the episode, Kourtney, 47, filled in her friend Simon Huck on what had happened. Her mother Kris had texted her to say she’d been out with Lawrence and Emma Stone, and Kourtney’s reply was a profanity-laced dismissal of Lawrence. It’s the kind of unfiltered moment the show has built its reputation on.
Things escalated from there. Lawrence reportedly asked Kim for Kourtney’s contact details so she could apologize, and the email she sent included the line that she felt like one of Kourtney’s sisters. Kourtney, still smarting, joked that if Lawrence considered herself a sister, she would treat her like one.
The joke leaned into one of the family’s most infamous moments, the physical fight between Kourtney and Kim that aired on ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ in 2020. Kourtney quipped that next time Lawrence wanted to come over, they could go at it, Kourtney and Kim style. It was clearly said with a smile, but the reference was unmistakable.
Beneath the humor, though, there was real emotion. Kourtney admitted she was having a really sensitive week and felt as though everyone was ganging up on her when the email arrived. She also described Lawrence’s message as “so nice,” noting that she hadn’t replied yet.
Interestingly, Kourtney said she later rewatched the original clip and decided it wasn’t that bad. That shift in perspective helps explain why the episode plays more like a playful roast than a feud. The apology email seems to have done its job.
Lawrence has also appeared to have second thoughts. On Amy Poehler’s ‘Good Hang’ podcast in January, she said her quotes sounded insane when read back as headlines, and suggested she should do half as much press as normal people. It was a rare moment of candor about how quickly casual remarks can be amplified.
The original criticism wasn’t entirely random. Lawrence pointed to moments where Kourtney announced lifestyle choices, such as no longer wearing outfits or not having a TV in her room, and joked that she should simply do those things without making a statement. Some fans online agreed, while others thought the actress was being unnecessarily harsh.
That split reaction shows why the moment stuck around. The Kardashians’ brand is built on sharing every detail, and any suggestion that they overshare tends to spark debate. For Kourtney, the comment came during a period when she felt especially exposed.
For now, the two appear to be on good terms, or at least on the path to it. Lawrence was reportedly photographed all smiles with Kendall and Kylie Jenner shortly after the original interview, and her ties to Kris remain strong. Kourtney’s response, delivered with a mix of humor and honesty, may have kept things friendly.
Fans will be watching to see whether the promised response email ever gets sent, or whether that invitation to go at it Kardashian style is ever taken up. Given how this family handles public moments, anything is possible. Either way, the premiere gave viewers exactly the kind of drama they tune in for.
Do you think Jennifer Lawrence’s apology is enough to settle her “annoying” comment about Kourtney?
