Kristen Stewart Opens Up About 8 Months of Marriage To Wife Dylan Meyer : “Power in Numbers”
Kristen Stewart is opening up about her life since marrying screenwriter Dylan Meyer in April. Speaking to Esquire in an interview published on December 9, the Oscar-nominated actress, 35, reflected on the lessons she’s learned in the first eight months of their marriage.
Stewart described the biggest insight as the value of partnership, saying there is “power in numbers.” She explained, “It’s so nice to have a family. It’s so nice to not be an unmoored individual. Dylan came into my life, and I immediately was like, ‘It’s so important to handpick and curate the people that surround you.’”
The actress also praised Meyer’s approach to life and relationships. “Dylan just does not suffer fools,” Stewart said. “I may not always seem like it, but I really am kind of a ‘nice guy.’ It’s just bolstering to be with someone that reminds you that your life is in your hands.”
The couple, who went public with their relationship in 2019 and got engaged in 2021, enjoys spending quiet moments together. Stewart shared that she often reads aloud to Meyer, and to their two cats and one dog, selecting books such as East of Eden, Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, and The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter. “To share them outside of yourself is salve,” she said.
Despite their close bond, Stewart values some alone time. She explained, “I am so with people all the time. I’m an Aries, so it’s rare that I’m not in a group. I like to steal time and remind myself to be alone.”
Stewart and Meyer’s wedding was an intimate ceremony at the Los Angeles restaurant Casita Del Campo, attended by friends and family, including Ashley Benson and her husband Brandon Davis. Meyer shared a photo of the couple sharing a kiss after the ceremony.
In the interview, Stewart also briefly touched on her past relationships, noting that she publicly identified as bisexual in 2017. “You’re not confused if you’re bisexual. It’s not confusing at all. For me, it’s quite the opposite,” she said. She also recalled being advised early in her career not to show public affection with a girlfriend in order to land mainstream roles, something she rejected.
Looking back on her path to marriage, Stewart described Meyer as a grounding presence in her life. Their relationship, which began in August 2019, has grown into a partnership she clearly treasures.
Kristen Stewart’s reflections show the importance of choosing the right partner and surrounding yourself with people who support and challenge you.
