New York Comic Con has a way of turning a single stage into a time machine, and the Marvel Television and Marvel Animation presentation delivered exactly that. The 90-minute panel, titled ‘Up Next From Marvel Television and Marvel Animation’, ran on Thursday, Oct. 8, in the Empire Stage. Few returning faces carry as much nostalgia as Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones.

The panel was hosted by Brandon Davis, with Brad Winderbaum, Marvel’s head of Television, Animation, Comics and Franchise, leading the presentation. It promised a look at the most anticipated upcoming Disney+ series, along with special guests. Fans were already buzzing about what the streaming slate would look like after a stretch of shake-ups.

Then came the moment many had been waiting for. Ritter joined Charlie Cox and Finn Jones onstage in a ‘The Defenders’ reunion to promote the final season of ‘Daredevil: Born Again‘, and photos from the event show her in a vivid red-and-black printed dress in front of the Comic Con press backdrop. Mike Colter was scheduled to appear as well but missed the event because of a last-minute scheduling conflict.

Marvel officially confirmed at the panel that the series will end with its third season, which arrives on Disney+ in 2027. The news had circulated for weeks after TheWrap first reported it. The season reportedly runs 8 episodes and wrapped filming in July.

Marvel also showed new footage, and it was striking. Matt Murdock is in prison after confessing to being Daredevil in order to bring down Wilson Fisk, and he builds a new costume out of an orange prison jumpsuit. A voiceover has him accepting his sentence as the price of stopping Fisk.

The teaser also gave early glimpses of Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Danny Rand entering a government building. Wilson Bethel’s Bullseye sets off a bomb inside the prison. Marvel has confirmed that all four street-level heroes appear together in the season, the first time that has happened since 2017.

For fans, the reunion is the real headline. Ritter, Cox and Jones all spent time in Marvel’s earlier Netflix-era shows, and their return to a shared stage felt like a victory lap for a community that has long campaigned for these characters. Cox playfully reacted to the final-season news by telling fans who have been rallying for the show to brace for reality.

Vincent D’Onofrio, Wilson Bethel and Deborah Ann Woll are also returning for the season. Showrunner Dario Scardapane, whose contract was not renewed, is no longer involved, and it remains unclear who is completing the season. That makes the strong footage and cast energy at the panel all the more notable.

The panel was packed beyond Ritter’s appearance. Marvel Television revealed the title and logo of ‘Zodiac’, a live-action spy thriller set to begin filming in London this spring and arrive on Disney+ in 2028. That finally puts a face on the project that fans had been speculating about for weeks.

‘VisionQuest’ premieres Oct. 14 on Disney+, with Paul Bettany, James Spader, Ruaridh Mollica, Emily Hampshire and showrunner Terry Matalas discussing the show. Attendees also got a surprise screening of the first episode. Elsewhere, ‘X-Men ’97’ Season 3 got a first look ahead of its 2027 premiere, and ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ Season 2 premieres Jan. 13.

Marvel also announced 3 new two-part event series under the ‘Marvel Zombies’ banner, rolling out between 2027 and 2029. Taken together, the panel offered a clear picture of a Marvel Television slate that is leaner but still ambitious.

With the show ending after its next season, this appearance doubles as a farewell and a celebration. Seeing three of the four Defenders together onstage suggests Marvel knows how much goodwill this group carries. It also hints that the final season is being positioned as a major event rather than a quiet finale.

Whether the finale can deliver everything fans want remains to be seen, but the early footage and reunion energy are a strong start. For Ritter, the moment proved that Jessica Jones still has a place in Marvel’s future.
