Lady Gaga (40) Goes Bare-Faced and Builds a Sultry At-Home Glam Look That Has Fans Swooning

Celebrity get-ready videos have become their own genre, but few stars treat them like performance art the way Lady Gaga does. Her makeup routine clips tend to feel less like tutorials and more like intimate little shows. And when the star behind a beauty brand lets cameras into her bathroom mirror, people pay attention.

That instinct is baked into her business. Gaga founded the cosmetics brand Haus Labs, which debuted in 2019 under the name Haus Laboratories as the first beauty line to launch exclusively on Amazon. It relaunched in 2022 as Haus Labs with Sephora as its retail partner, after removing roughly 2,700 ingredients she considered undesirable.

So it was no surprise when Gaga posted a fresh at-home makeup video on Instagram on Wednesday, Oct. 7, showing her full routine from a bare face to a finished look. The clip, which she framed as her version of home glamour, had fans swooning, with commenters praising her as the queen of makeup. It also came as part of a recent run of beauty posts, following earlier routines she shared on Sept. 3 and Sept. 25.

The video begins with her skin completely bare, hair slicked back and a sparkling ring on her hand. She applies face oil, then a cream she jokingly called her secret sauce. From there she moves through foundation, contour and bronzer, sweeping the bronzer across her chest and collarbones as well.

She applies thin, careful layers across her face, neck and collarbone area. She finishes with concealer, lip liner and a cream blush, which she blends in with her fingertips instead of a brush. The result is a warm, sculpted glow that looks polished without feeling overdone.

The soundtrack adds to the mood. A Chopin nocturne plays in the background, performed by Raqib Hasan RaNe, giving the whole routine a quiet, almost cinematic feel. Gaga changes outfits several times during the video, moving from a pink sweater to a blue strappy top before ending in a cozy brown cable-knit sweater and dark sunglasses. She closes by flashing a peace sign and sending followers a message of love.

The video lands at an especially private moment in Gaga’s life. Her fiancé, tech executive Michael Polansky, and Gaga reportedly welcomed a daughter named Rose Bean Polansky on June 9, according to a birth certificate reportedly obtained by TMZ. Reports say the baby was born at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Some outlets have also reported that the baby was born via surrogate, but those details remain unconfirmed. Neither Gaga, Polansky nor their representatives have commented publicly. Photos earlier showed Gaga carrying a swaddled newborn on a low-key stroll in Northern California with Polansky beside her.

A source told US Weekly that Gaga is enjoying private family time at the couple’s home in Northern California. In that context, a calm, self-directed beauty video feels like a gentle way to stay connected with fans without showing too much. It is also a reminder of how much control she keeps over what she shares.

Part of the appeal is the contrast. Gaga is known for theatrical, boundary-pushing looks, yet her at-home routines strip everything back to technique, texture and patience. Watching her blend cream blush with her fingers is oddly satisfying, and it makes a high-end result feel approachable.

There is also a practical payoff for her brand. Haus Labs rebuilt its formulas during its relaunch and counts among its releases a foundation called Triclone Skin Tech, which came in 51 shades. A portion of each purchase on its website goes to the Born This Way Foundation, a nonprofit Gaga co-founded.

For viewers, though, the draw is simpler. It is a rare chance to watch a global pop star slow down and enjoy a ritual most people do in front of a mirror every day. The warm lighting, the classical piano and the cozy sweater all add up to a mood fans clearly want more of.
