Latest Netflix’s Movie Breaks Record With Biggest Movie Launch in 10 Days
Netflix’s animated film slate is seeing a major surge this week, with one title clearly standing out from the rest. According to Netflix’s global top 10 data, the latest weekly numbers show a strong split between breakout hits and more modest debuts, giving a mixed picture of current viewer trends on the platform.
At the center of it all is the animated film Swapped, which has quickly climbed to the top of the charts and set a new benchmark for launch performance.
The movie saw a massive jump in viewing hours after its debut weekend, followed by even stronger numbers in its first full week. Industry watchers say it is connecting especially well with family audiences and is showing unusual staying power compared to typical animated releases.
Swapped is a 2026 animated fantasy adventure comedy-drama from the United States. It was directed by Nathan Greno and written by John Whittington, Christian Magalhaes, and Robert Snow, based on a story they developed together with Greno and Adam Karp.
The film comes from Skydance Animation and features a voice cast that includes Michael B. Jordan, Juno Temple, Tracy Morgan, Cedric the Entertainer, and Justina Machado.

The story follows a woodland creature named Ollie and a majestic bird named Ivy. The two characters suddenly find themselves swapped into each other’s bodies. They are forced to work together and survive a series of challenges while trying to return to normal. The body-swap setup drives most of the film’s adventure and comedy.
Swapped first arrived on Netflix and in select theaters on May 1. It received mixed reactions from critics. Some praised the animation and visual style, while others pointed to a predictable storyline. The numbers, however, tell a different story, as the film is now being described as one of Netflix’s strongest animated launches to date based on early viewing data reported in the streamer’s global top 10 rankings.
