Leaked ‘God of War’ Multiplayer Screens Hint at Greek Setting and Hades’ Return
Leaked screenshots from a canceled God of War multiplayer project have surfaced online, giving fans a peek at what could have been a bold new direction for the franchise. The images, first shared by MP1st, appear to show a return to the series’ Greek roots, with glimpses of temples, caves, and other familiar landscapes.
Earlier this year, Sony shut down two live-service games that hadn’t yet been revealed. One was reportedly in development at Bluepoint Games, the studio behind the Demon’s Souls remake, and is now believed to have been this multiplayer version of God of War.
Among the leaked images, two stand out: both show a location labeled “Hades’ Armory.” One looks normal, while the other seems to be affected by some kind of curse, its surfaces darkened and stained. This suggests that Hades, the God of the Underworld, may have been set to return. The character was last seen in God of War III, where Kratos famously defeated him in one of the series’ most brutal battles.

These are *supposedly* screenshots from a cancelled GOD OF WAR multiplayer game by Bluepoint Games, taking place in Greece.

It is likely this would’ve taken place before GoW3.

If the leaks are genuine, they hint that Bluepoint was planning to revisit Greek mythology rather than continuing the Norse story from the recent games. Interestingly, some of the visuals also include elements that look inspired by Norse design, possibly showing that the studio was mixing ideas or still experimenting with the game’s direction before it was canceled.
Sony has not commented on the leaked material or revealed what’s next for the franchise. With the success of God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök (2022), another entry feels inevitable, but where the next story will take Kratos remains a mystery.
