A leaked video from the set of House of The Dragon Season 3 has given fans their first look at James Norton in action. The short clip shows Norton filming a scene with Matt Smith and a child actor, though the kid’s character hasn’t been revealed yet.

The video quickly made the rounds online.

Filming for the third season actually started months ago, on March 21, 2025, at Leavesden Studios in Watford. The plan is to keep filming all the way through October. HBO has yet to release any official footage, but this leaked video is the first proper look at Norton in his new role.

In January 2025, HBO officially announced that James Norton joined the cast as Lord Ormund Hightower. Fans of the books will know Ormund as the head of House Hightower during the Targaryen civil war. He’s also the nephew of Ser Otto Hightower, who many fans remember as the Hand of the King. Ormund carries the Valyrian steel sword Vigilance and plays a major role in the conflict.

In the story, Ormund leads the Reach army for the greens, standing behind King Aegon II Targaryen. His army is huge. It includes thousands of knights, archers, and soldiers. But his control over the Reach isn’t perfect. Some lords, like Ser Alan Beesbury and Lord Alan Tarly, attack his men and camps. Lord Owen Costayne also causes trouble by attacking his supply wagons. Because of these setbacks, Ormund decides to wait for help from King’s Landing before making his next move.

James Norton isn’t the only new actor in Season 3. In March 2025, HBO confirmed that Tommy Flanagan and Dan Fogler had joined the cast. Flanagan will play Lord Roderick Dustin, and Fogler is set to appear as Ser Torrhen Manderly. More new cast members were announced in April 2025, including Tom Cullen as Ser Luthor Largent, Joplin Sibtain as Ser Jon Roxton, and Barry Sloane as Ser Adrian Redfort.

One source close to the production said, “People are going to be surprised by how well Norton fits into the world of Westeros.” Fans will likely have to wait until 2026 to see the finished product, but this leak has already given them something to get excited about.
