Lego Unveils a Gothic New ‘Wednesday’ Backpack Set That Doubles as Real Storage, Check out the Price
‘Wednesday‘ has proven itself far more than a one-season streaming phenomenon, and its merchandise line is expanding right alongside its cultural staying power. LEGO’s ongoing collaboration with the Netflix hit is about to grow again, giving fans of Wednesday Addams’ brand of gothic mischief a brand new way to bring the show into their own bedrooms.
The Danish toy company has spent the past couple of years building out a dedicated ‘Wednesday’ collection, previously releasing sets themed around Thing’s apartment and Morticia’s cottage. That lineup is now expanding with two new builds designed to capture different corners of Wednesday’s world at Nevermore Academy.
The centerpiece of this latest wave is the 76787 Wednesday Backpack, a 401-piece set priced at 39.99 euros and set to release on October 1, just in time for the Halloween season. The build recreates Wednesday’s signature black backpack, complete with a functional opening design that reveals a miniature dorm room hidden inside.
Beyond its display value, the set is built with genuine practicality in mind. The top of the backpack opens to reveal a small photo holder and dorm room details, while the front section unlocks two separate storage compartments where kids can tuck away small personal items like rings, bracelets, or trinkets.
The set arrives predominantly in a black color scheme accented with purple and silver-gray details, matching Wednesday’s unmistakable aesthetic straight from the show. Flowers climbing up the sides of the backpack add a touch of gothic romance to the otherwise moody design, while the build includes a Wednesday minidoll figure and a Thing figure riding on a tiny roller skate.
Alongside the backpack, LEGO is also releasing 76788 Nevermore Academy on the same day, an 890-piece microscale recreation of Wednesday’s school priced at 69.99 euros. That set marks a notable milestone for the collection, introducing the first-ever standard LEGO Wednesday minifigure alongside smaller statue-style figures of Wednesday and her roommate Enid Sinclair.
Both sets are designed for builders aged nine and up, and they lean into functionality as much as fandom, doubling as gothic bedroom decor once the actual building process wraps up. LEGO has also built compatibility with its Builder app into both sets, letting kids follow along with 3D digital instructions, rotate models on screen, and track their building progress as they go.
The timing lines up neatly with the show’s continued popularity, given that ‘Wednesday’ set Netflix’s highest first-week viewership record for an English-language series when it debuted in 2022 and has remained a consistent draw ever since. That kind of staying power has clearly convinced LEGO there’s still plenty of appetite for expanding the collection years after the show’s original premiere.
With Halloween approaching and two new sets landing simultaneously, fans of the series now have a fresh reason to add another piece of Nevermore Academy to their shelves. Whether builders gravitate toward the practical backpack storage or the more detailed school microbuild, both sets offer a solid entry point into Wednesday’s distinctly moody corner of the LEGO catalog.
