‘Lioness’ Star LaMonica Garrett Has a Pitch for the Show’s Most Underrated Characters

Taylor Sheridan’s television universe has built its reputation on deep, sprawling ensembles, and ‘Lioness‘ is no exception. While Zoe Saldaña’s Joe remains the show’s clear center of gravity, the Quick Reaction Force team surrounding her has quietly become one of the series’ most compelling elements, especially as Season 3 has pushed those characters further into the spotlight.

That shift has been particularly noticeable for LaMonica Garrett, who plays QRF operative Tucker. This season marks the first time his character has broken away from his usual teammates, Tex, Randy and Two Cups, to work more closely alongside Joe, Bobby, Cruz and Josie instead. It’s a change Garrett has described as giving Tucker a genuinely different energy compared to previous seasons.

That evolving dynamic has clearly gotten Garrett thinking bigger about where these characters could go next. In an exclusive interview with ScreenRant’s Liam Crowley, the actor floated the idea of a potential ‘Lioness’ spinoff built entirely around the QRF, following the team on missions outside the main Lioness program’s jurisdiction.

“I’d like to dig into more layers, not just for Tucker, but for the QRF as a whole,” Garrett said. “I’d want to know more about Two Cups. Each of these guys and Bobby have a different fingerprint, and I think QRF as a whole would be fun to explore more into their background,” he explained to ScreenRant.

That pitch makes sense given how little of the QRF’s personal lives have actually been explored on screen so far. Outside of the reveal that Bobby’s Tracer, played by Max Martini, is an ex, very little has been shared about what any of these characters’ lives look like beyond their missions, despite each having survived serious near-death moments across the show’s run, including the Season 2 finale’s brutal firefight in Iran that left Tucker, Two Cups and Tex all wounded.

Garrett’s own history with Sheridan runs deep, having previously starred as Thomas in ‘1883’ before joining ‘Lioness’ as Tucker. That relationship puts him in familiar territory when it comes to pitching future projects, especially given how aggressively Sheridan has expanded his other properties into spinoffs like ‘1923’, ‘Marshals’ and ‘Dutton Ranch’.

Whether a QRF-focused spinoff ever becomes a reality remains speculative for now, with no official confirmation from Sheridan or Paramount+ about any concrete plans. Still, given the strength of the ensemble Sheridan has built around Joe, and with ‘Lioness’ Season 3 currently holding an 85 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, the appetite for expanding this corner of the show’s universe doesn’t seem far-fetched.

For now, fans will have to settle for watching Tucker, Two Cups, Bobby and the rest of the team continue their current arcs as Season 3 plays out on Paramount+.

Would you watch a Lioness spinoff focused on the QRF team?
