Lizzo is speaking out after winning an important moment in her ongoing legal fight with three former backup dancers. The singer posted a new video online after fat-shaming claims made against her were dropped in court.

In the video, Lizzo addressed the situation directly. “They weren’t fired for gaining weight. They were fired for taking a private recording of me without my consent and sending it off to ex-employees,” she said.

Court records show that one of the dancers, Arianna Davis, was let go after secretly recording Lizzo during a private meeting with dancers.

According to those same documents, Davis later sent the recording to Crystal Williams, who was no longer working on Lizzo’s Special Tour. A judge later ruled that Davis’s firing was justified because the recording was made without permission.

Lizzo’s lawyers, Marty Singer and Melissa Y. Glass, confirmed that Davis, along with Noelle Rodriguez and Crystal Williams, dropped their fat-shaming claims. They said this happened after 18 witnesses submitted sworn statements denying the accusations. The ruling came from Los Angeles Superior Court, where the judge agreed the termination was lawful.

The case first gained attention in 2023 when the three dancers accused Lizzo of creating uncomfortable situations while touring in Europe. They claimed she pushed dancers to interact with s** performers during a visit to the Bananenbar club in Amsterdam. Those claims sparked widespread media coverage and public debate.

Lizzo has consistently denied wrongdoing. In a 2024 interview with Keke Palmer, she said she felt completely caught off guard by the lawsuit. “These were people that I gave opportunities to,” she said at the time. She also defended herself by saying, “I did nothing wrong,” and called the accusations “outrageous.”

The singer has also spoken about how the lawsuit affected her mental health. She said the situation made her withdraw from others and feel constantly on edge. “I know what it feels like to be body-shamed on a daily basis,” Lizzo said when she first responded to the claims.

Even though the fat-shaming accusations are no longer part of the case, the legal battle is not over. Other claims, including false imprisonment and harassment, are still active. The dancers’ attorney, Ronald Zambrano, told TMZ that they disagree with parts of the court’s rulings and plan to continue fighting the remaining claims. Lizzo’s legal team says they are confident she will win those as well.
