A new official trailer for Wuthering Heights has arrived, giving audiences a dark and haunting look at Emerald Fennell’s next film.

The movie, described as a Gothic erotic psychological drama, is loosely inspired by Emily Brontë’s 1847 novel and stars Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi in the lead roles.

Produced, written, and directed by Fennell, the film reimagines Brontë’s tragic love story between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff through a modern and provocative lens. Robbie plays Catherine, while Elordi takes on the role of Heathcliff. The cast also includes Hong Chau, Shazad Latif, Alison Oliver, Martin Clunes, and Ewan Mitchell.

The film will open in the United Kingdom on February 11, 2026, and in the United States on February 13, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Robbie also serves as a producer through her company LuckyChap Entertainment, which previously worked with Fennell on Promising Young Woman and Saltburn.

The project was first announced in July 2024, when Fennell revealed she was writing and directing her own take on Wuthering Heights. Two months later, Robbie and Elordi were confirmed as the leads. A bidding war soon followed, with Netflix reportedly offering $150 million for distribution rights. Warner Bros., however, secured the film with a lower offer of around $80 million after agreeing to release it in theaters and fund a major marketing campaign.

Elordi shared that he was considering stepping away from acting before Fennell personally offered him the part of Heathcliff, which he accepted without auditioning. The casting decision sparked some online debate, as Heathcliff is described in the original novel as “dark-skinned.” Fennell later defended her choice, saying that Elordi “looked exactly like the illustration of Heathcliff on the first book that I read.”

Filming took place across the United Kingdom from late January to early April, using 35mm VistaVision cameras. The movie was shot at Sky Studios Elstree and on location in the Yorkshire Dales, including the valleys of Arkengarthdale and Swaledale. Linus Sandgren served as cinematographer.
