Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi Turn “Wuthering Heights” Premiere Into a Gothic Fever Dream
Method dressing has taken over the Hollywood red carpet once again as the highly anticipated reimagining of a literary classic prepares to hit theaters. Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi turned heads on Wednesday, Jan. 28, when they appeared at the Los Angeles premiere of “Wuthering Heights” in striking, coordinated ensembles.
The world premiere, held at the TCL Chinese Theatre, showcased a modern and moody aesthetic that mirrors the tone of the upcoming film. Robbie, 35, chose a form-fitting Schiaparelli gown that featured a nude lace bodice and a dramatic black-and-red train designed to resemble the petals of a flower.
However, it was her choice of jewelry that truly stole the spotlight. The three-time Oscar nominee accessorized with the historic Cartier Taj Mahal necklace, a legendary piece from the late Elizabeth Taylor’s collection.

Richard Burton originally presented the jewel to Taylor in 1972 for her 40th birthday. During a red carpet interview, Robbie explained that she and her stylist, Andrew Mukamal, wanted to be intentional with the look, noting that the jewel’s history made it an appropriate match for the gothic nature of the film.
Robbie paired the historic piece with custom 38-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings and a 12-carat diamond ring. Her costar, 28-year-old Jacob Elordi, provided a sharp contrast to the event’s all-white backdrop by wearing a sleek, all-black suit and matching shoes.
The duo stars as the iconic star-crossed lovers Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff in the upcoming adaptation of Emily Brontë’s 1847 novel. Directed by Emerald Fennell, who previously worked with Elordi on the provocative “Saltburn,” the film promises a “steamy” and “electric” take on the classic tale.

The production of the movie, which was filmed in the rugged moors of Yorkshire, seems to have fostered a deep connection between the two leads. In a recent conversation with Vogue Australia, Robbie and Elordi reflected on their time on set, including a grand gesture Elordi made on Valentine’s Day.

We were shooting on Valentine’s Day. You made my day and, as Heathcliff, filled my room with roses, Robbie said. Along with the flowers, Elordi provided a note written from the perspective of Heathcliff and a small, symbolic tombstone.
Robbie admitted she didn’t have anything quite as elaborate prepared for him, leading Elordi to joke, I felt like I beat you. Robbie was quick to agree, responding, You definitely beat me. Yours was so epic. I remember thinking on Valentine’s Day, oh he’s probably a very good boyfriend, ’cause there’s a lot of thoughtfulness in this.
“Wuthering Heights” is set for a wide theatrical release on Feb. 13, just in time for the Valentine’s Day weekend. The cast also features Hong Chau as Nelly Dean, Shazad Latif as Edgar Linton, and Alison Oliver as Isabella Linton, with a soundtrack featuring original music by Charli XCX.
Outside of the moors, both actors have incredibly busy schedules ahead. Robbie is currently producing several high-profile projects through her company, LuckyChap Entertainment, including a film adaptation of “The Sims” and a “Monopoly” movie.
Elordi is also set for a massive 2026, with a starring role in Ridley Scott’s post-apocalyptic thriller “The Dog Stars.” Additionally, fans are eagerly awaiting his return as Nate Jacobs in the third season of “Euphoria,” which is expected to premiere later this year.
This latest adaptation marks the third feature film for director Emerald Fennell, who has described her version of the Brontë classic as “illicit” and “very personal.” With its world premiere now complete, the film is poised to be one of the most discussed cinematic events of the year.
Do you think Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi are the right fit for the intense roles of Catherine and Heathcliff, or is this a classic better left untouched? Please share your thoughts in the comments.
