The world’s highest-paid actress in 2023 and three-time Oscar nominee, Margot Robbie, Margot Robbie, the world’s highest-paid actress in 2023 and a three-time Oscar nominee, became a star with her role as Naomi Lapaglia in Martin Scorsese’s 2013 film “The Wolf of Wall Street.”
More than ten years later, she shared what it was like to work with Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio. She talked about her famous nude scene and a surprising moment from her audition.
In the movie, Robbie’s character, Naomi, seduces Jordan Belfort, played by DiCaprio. Scorsese offered her a robe to wear during the scene for comfort. But Robbie said no. She wanted to go fully nude. “The whole point is that she’s going to come out completely naked—that’s the card she’s playing,” Robbie explained. She felt it was right for the character.
Robbie also shared a wild story from her audition. The script said to kiss DiCaprio. Instead, she slapped him. “I thought, I could kiss Leonardo DiCaprio right now, and that would be awesome,” she said. “Then I thought… nah. And just walloped him in the face.”
The room went silent. She worried she’d get arrested for assault. But after a few seconds, Scorsese and DiCaprio laughed. They loved it. “That was great,” they told her. That bold move helped her land the role.
Looking back, Robbie admitted she was scared during the audition. She thought, “Not only will you never work again, actually you will go to jail for this.” She even wondered if she hit DiCaprio too hard. But it all worked out. Her choices on set and in the audition showed her guts and talent.
