Disney+ has announced that The Fantastic Four: First Steps will begin streaming on November 5, giving fans the chance to revisit one of this year’s biggest superhero hits.

The movie made over $521 million globally during its summer box office run and marked a strong comeback for Marvel’s first family.

Directed by Matt Shakman, the film reintroduces the iconic team in a new way, without retelling their origin story.

Set in a retro-futuristic version of the 1960s, the story follows Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm as they face off against Galactus, a powerful cosmic threat to Earth.

The cast includes Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn as the main team, with Julia Garner, Sarah Niles, Mark Gatiss, Natasha Lyonne, Paul Walter Hauser, and Ralph Ineson rounding out the ensemble.

The movie is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Six and serves as the second reboot of the Fantastic Four franchise.

Development began years ago under 20th Century Fox, but after Disney acquired the studio in 2019, Marvel Studios took control and started fresh. Jon Watts was initially attached to direct but later stepped away, leading to Shakman taking over in 2022. Script development went through several stages, with contributions from writers Josh Friedman, Eric Pearson, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer.

Filming took place across England and Spain, wrapping in late 2024. The film premiered in Los Angeles on July 21, before hitting theaters worldwide on July 25. It earned positive feedback from critics, who praised its new take on the story and strong performances. The success at the box office made it the most successful Fantastic Four movie to date, and a sequel is already in the works.
