Marvel Just Broke a Year-Long Tradition to Tease ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ and Fans Are Already Spiraling

Marvel Studios has built an entire cottage industry out of viral marketing gimmicks, but few have run as long or as quietly as the one tied to ‘The Fantastic Four.’ While most studios chase attention with splashy new content every week, Marvel took the opposite approach here, betting that repetition itself could become the hook.

That patience paid off in a strange way, turning a single looping video into something fans quietly checked for every single week without fail. It became such a fixture of the fandom’s routine that most people stopped expecting it to ever change at all.

Marvel’s official Fantastic Four account on X has posted the exact same clip every Sunday at 7 p.m. Eastern since August 17, 2025, taken from ‘The Fantastic Four, First Steps.’ In the scene, Reed Richards explains that the family makes a point to do dinner together every week, saying it happens Sunday at 7, on the dot, no matter what, because they are all there.

That clip ran unchanged, week after week, all the way through July 12, without so much as a caption added to break up the pattern. This week, that ended. The post looked identical at first glance, but Reed is cut off mid-sentence this time, stopping right as he starts to say no matter what.

The screen goes dark immediately after, and two new voices take over. A woman, presumably Sue Storm, asks how long they have. A man who sounds like Reed Richards answers simply that it is not long.

The new audio is widely believed to come straight from ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ marking the next time audiences will actually see this version of the Fantastic Four sharing the screen together. It is a small but pointed shift for an account that spent nearly a full year training its audience to expect nothing but the same familiar dinner scene.

The timing lines up with where the Fantastic Four currently sit in the wider Marvel timeline. The team’s ship was last seen entering the atmosphere of Earth 616, the mainline MCU reality, during the post-credits scene of ‘Thunderbolts,’ also known as ‘The New Avengers.’ That scene set up exactly the kind of crossover moment this new audio seems to be teasing.

For a marketing campaign built almost entirely on repetition, breaking the pattern for even a few seconds carries outsized weight. Fans who have watched the same clip loop for nearly a year now have a genuine reason to pay attention again, and the ominous exchange between Sue and Reed gives them plenty to speculate about ahead of the film’s release.

‘Avengers, Doomsday’ arrives in theaters on December 18, bringing the Fantastic Four into direct contact with the wider Avengers roster for the first time in this timeline. With the countdown to the film’s premiere still months away, this kind of subtle teaser suggests Marvel has no plans to let the hype cool off anytime soon.
