Marvel Just Revealed a NEW Look at Doctor Doom in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’!
Marvel fans have another look at Doctor Doom ahead of Avengers: Doomsday, and this time the reveal comes through a new collectible being prepared for D23.
Collider exclusively revealed the upcoming Iron Studios figures, including a new MiniCo version of Doctor Doom. The collectible gives fans another look at Robert Downey Jr.’s villainous character, although it does not reveal much about his role in the movie.
The figure is being made exclusively for D23 and features a special metallic paint finish created specifically for the event. That makes it different from some of the other Doctor Doom collectibles that have already been shown.
One detail stands out immediately. Doom is wearing the same yellow or gold armband that has appeared on previous Avengers: Doomsday merchandise. Marvel has not explained what the armband means, but its repeated appearance suggests that it could be connected to an important part of the movie’s story.
The armband could potentially have something to do with Latveria, the fictional country ruled by Doctor Doom. However, that connection remains speculation for now. Neither Marvel nor Iron Studios has revealed exactly why the detail appears on the character’s design.
This is not the first time Iron Studios has used collectibles to give fans a closer look at Avengers: Doomsday. At San Diego Comic-Con, the company previously showed figures featuring Doctor Doom, Professor X and Magneto. Those releases gave fans an early look at several major characters expected to play a role in the upcoming Marvel crossover.
The D23 reveal is now adding another piece to the puzzle.
Iron Studios is also using the event to celebrate Walt Disney with two exclusive collectibles. One is a limited-edition 1/10 scale statue showing Disney inside his office, surrounded by details connected to his work and the early plans for Disney World.
According to Iron Studios’ official press notes, the statue will be limited to 500 pieces worldwide. The company says it includes details recreated from Walt Disney’s office, including the phrase “To all who come to this happy place, welcome,” written on the back of the wood.
A second Walt Disney MiniCo figure focuses on the early plans for what was called the Florida project. The drawing board behind Disney shows the concept that would eventually become Walt Disney World.
Iron Studios said the project was created with Disney and that its team visited Walt Disney’s office to make the recreation as accurate as possible.
The Disney collectibles also feature some familiar characters. Goofy, Pluto and the Sorcerer’s Apprentice version of Mickey Mouse appear around the Florida project figure, while another collectible includes several different Mickey Mouse designs.
For Marvel fans, however, the biggest attraction will likely be Doctor Doom. With Avengers: Doomsday approaching, every new piece of merchandise is being watched closely for possible clues about the film.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 18. For now, the new Iron Studios figure gives fans another glimpse at Doctor Doom while leaving the meaning behind his mysterious gold armband unanswered.
What do you think Doctor Doom’s mysterious gold armband means in Avengers: Doomsday?
