Marvel Just Turned ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Trailer Into an Actual Lego Set Come to Life
Marvel Studios has never been shy about turning its biggest movies into merchandising events, and ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ has been no exception. Between record-breaking cast reveals and a viral CinemaCon teaser that fans could only describe secondhand, anticipation for the Russo Brothers’ crossover has been building for months.
That hype only intensified once the film’s actual trailer dropped and quickly racked up hundreds of millions of views within its first day online. With a cast spanning the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the Thunderbolts, and a returning wave of original ‘X-Men’ stars, there’s been no shortage of footage for fans to dissect frame by frame.
Now Marvel and LEGO have given fans an entirely new way to relive it. The full ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ trailer has been officially recreated shot-for-shot in LEGO form, unveiled by IGN as the LEGO Group’s latest promotional trailer recreation for the film.
The brick-built version leans heavily on LEGO’s existing Doomsday lineup, pulling minifigures and set pieces from the upcoming 76347 Quinjet and 76352 New Avengers Tower sets, along with figures from the 846-piece 76348 Epic Battle set. That last set is built around a large brick-constructed Sentinel, the towering mutant-hunting robots that loom large in the film’s X-Men-focused footage.
What makes the recreation especially interesting for collectors is what it reveals beyond those confirmed sets. The video includes several brand-new minifigure designs that haven’t appeared in any officially announced Doomsday products yet, including Namor, a sponsor-covered Red Guardian, a casual-dressed Steve Rogers, U.S. Agent, and Ghost. Whether those characters eventually get their own standalone sets remains unclear for now.
A handful of other figures featured in the trailer, like Ant-Man and Shang-Chi, are reused designs pulled from earlier LEGO Marvel releases rather than new sculpts. Even so, seeing the full ensemble assembled together in brick form gives fans their clearest look yet at just how sprawling this crossover’s roster really is.
For fans hoping to own a piece of the film rather than just watch it in plastic form, LEGO has already confirmed a wave of Doomsday-themed sets rolling out this fall. The Doctor Doom Bust arrives first on September 1, followed by the Quinjet, Epic Battle Sentinel set, and New Avengers Tower, all landing October 4.
The New Avengers Tower set alone comes packed with six minifigures, including Doctor Doom, Yelena, Red Guardian, Bucky Barnes, Human Torch, and Sentry, hinting at just how central that headquarters may be to the film’s plot. Meanwhile, the Epic Battle set’s massive Sentinel suggests the X-Men’s mutant-hunting adversaries will play a significant role once ‘Doomsday’ finally reaches theaters.
None of this, of course, replaces the real trailer experience, but for a fanbase that’s been feverishly trading secondhand descriptions and fan-made recreations of Doomsday footage for months, an official LEGO version feels like a fitting bridge between merchandising hype and full-blown movie marketing. It also gives eagle-eyed fans a fresh set of clues to pore over ahead of the film’s release.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is set to bring together one of the largest ensemble casts in franchise history when it finally hits theaters on December 18. Between the returning original ‘X-Men’ cast, the Fantastic Four’s live-action debut, and Robert Downey Jr.’s surprising turn as Doctor Doom, there’s plenty riding on this crossover living up to the hype LEGO’s brick-built trailer has only added to.
