Marvel May Have Just Teased Mephisto’s MCU Debut in New ‘Ironheart’ Episode Title

Marvel fans are buzzing with excitement over the possibility that Mephisto, the iconic demon from Marvel comics, might finally debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The speculation is centered on the upcoming Disney+ series Ironheart, set to launch on June 24, 2025.
The rumors kicked off when Marvel Studios shared a post on X, revealing the episode titles for Ironheart. One title, “Karma’s a Glitch” for Episode 5, stood out because the letter “M” was highlighted in red.
Fans quickly connected the red “M” to Mephisto, a character known for his red appearance and devilish nature. Social media comments exploded with theories, with many convinced this is a deliberate hint at Mephisto’s arrival.
Mephisto has been a fan-favorite villain in Marvel comics, clashing with heroes like Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, and Silver Surfer. With the MCU leaning heavily into supernatural themes in projects like WandaVision, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Agatha All Along, fans feel the time is ripe for his introduction.
Ironheart seems like a strong candidate, especially since trailers show Anthony Ramos as The Hood, a character tied to dark, mystical forces. In the comics, The Hood draws power from Dormammu, but since Dormammu already appeared in Doctor Strange, some believe Marvel could swap him for Mephisto as The Hood’s source of power.
Adding fuel to the fire, reports from 2022 and 2023 suggested Sacha Baron Cohen joined Ironheart to play Mephisto. A 2023 Deadline Hollywood article claimed Cohen would portray the demon in later episodes, using both live-action and visual effects, and might appear in future MCU projects.
While Marvel hasn’t confirmed these reports, they haven’t denied them either, keeping the speculation alive.
However, fans have been burned before. Similar Mephisto theories swirled around WandaVision and Agatha All Along, only to fizzle out. For instance, many thought Aubrey Plaza’s character in Agatha All Along was linked to Mephisto, but merchandise leaks revealed her true role. Despite these past disappointments, the Ironheart clues feel more concrete to hopeful fans.
Ironheart, created by Chinaka Hodge and produced by Ryan Coogler, stars Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams. The cast includes Anthony Ramos, Alden Ehrenreich, Lyric Ross, Regan Aliyah, and Shea Couleè. The six-episode series premieres with its first three episodes on June 24, 2025, wrapping up Phase Five of the MCU.
Whether Mephisto finally emerges or this is another false alarm, answers are just days away.
The Mephisto hype around Ironheart is exciting, but I’m cautious after so many false leads in the past. The red “M” and Sacha Baron Cohen rumors are intriguing, and tying Mephisto to The Hood could work well. Still, Marvel loves to tease fans, so I won’t hold my breath. If Mephisto does show up, it could open thrilling new doors for the MCU’s supernatural side. What do you think about the Mephisto rumors?
