Marvel Reveals Death of the Silver Surfer Limited Series by Greg Pak & Sumit Kumar

Before making his debut in the MCU, Silver Surfer will face an untimely death in the comics. In a new five-issue limited series titled Death of the Silver Surfer, Norrin Radd will return to a war-torn Earth with a target on his back. The series, written by Greg Pak and illustrated by Sumit Kumar, promises to be an emotional ride, introducing new characters and bringing back familiar faces, including the Fantastic Four and Galactus.

Pak, who has long admired Silver Surfer, described the character’s depth and relevance: “Norrin Radd is an alien who’s attacked wherever he goes, and yet always chooses to help; a harbinger of doom who serves an abomination, but who always fights for life.” He went on to say that Silver Surfer’s stories have always been about the complexities of real life, showing how the character’s selflessness stands out in a world full of gray areas.

“His fantastical stories have always been about the contradictions and complexity of the real world, about the terrible price and infinite rewards of actually caring for others,” Pak explained. “In a world of shades of gray, the story of Norrin Radd lets us find a little silver.”

The series will introduce a new rival for the Silver Surfer, described by Pak as “the most human and yet the most formidable rival Norrin Radd has ever had.” This new character promises to be both cocky and dangerous, and Pak teased that fans might just fall in love with her.

With the creative team of Pak, Kumar, and cover artist Dike Ruan behind the series, Death of the Silver Surfer is shaping up to be a thrilling, heart-wrenching journey that fans won’t want to miss.
