Marvel TV Boss Addresses the Return of Iron Fist and Luke Cage in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2
Daredevil is returning to Disney+ with Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, following the huge success of the first season.
Fans loved seeing Charlie Cox back as Daredevil, along with Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk and Jon Bernthal as the Punisher.
Season 2 is coming soon, and Marvel is already promoting it. The studio is confident it will match or even surpass the first season’s success.
Marvel Studios’ Head of TV and Streaming, Brad Winderbaum, also confirmed that the show has been renewed for a third season, which is set to begin filming early next year. Even with other big projects like Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday on the schedule, Daredevil’s story in New York will continue.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Winderbaum was asked if fans could expect to see Iron Fist or Luke Cage now that Jessica Jones is back.
He didn’t give a direct answer but spoke about the focus of the series. “The less I say the better. Dario [Scardapane, showrunner] is trying to tell a story to great effect that is, like Stan Lee said, a reflection of the world outside your window. The politics of New York are a big part of that story. It’s clearly about a guy who runs around in a devil suit, but what is amazing about Dario’s work is the intricacy of the interplay of all these characters and how he really treats New York and the world of City Hall and the groundswell of the growing resistance against Fisk.”
“It feels at times like a fantasy epic or Game of Thrones or something. There’s a palace intrigue-type storytelling that is really fun to read. I’m starting to watch the cuts. It’s amazing. So I don’t know if it’s exactly about who’s gonna show up. It’s a little deeper than that. There are rewards to be had for fans, but it’s really about the stakes of this world that this Kingpin is building in New York City.” He said.
Winderbaum’s comments suggest that while fans might hope to see characters like Iron Fist or Luke Cage, the show is focused on the bigger story in New York, the rise of Kingpin, and the intricate world around him.
It’s exciting to see Marvel focusing on a more complex story in Daredevil’s world. Even without guaranteed cameos, the politics, stakes, and character interactions make this series something to look forward to. Do you hope to see Luke Cage or Iron Fist appear?
