San Diego Comic Con has turned into a proving ground for how much mystery Marvel Studios can pack into a single weekend. Between costume reveals and surprise props scattered across the convention floor, this year’s booth has already given fans plenty to dissect before Hall H even begins.

Much of that intrigue centers on ‘Avengers Doomsday,’ which Marvel has confirmed will bring together heroes from three distinct universes on a collision course against an existential threat. With over twenty-five characters already announced for the film, Kevin Feige has made clear there is still room left for more surprises.

One of those surprises arrived in the form of a brand new costume introduced at the booth this weekend. Marvel unveiled a mysterious character labeled the Latverian Witch, and the display has already changed colors overnight, switching from an original green outfit to a new version worn in orange and yellow tones.

The design itself has become a talking point in its own right, featuring flowing robes fastened with metallic clasps, a hooded cloak partially covering a silver face mask and a belt marked with a silver diamond buckle. No official confirmation has been given as to who exactly is beneath that mask.

That ambiguity has fans running wild with theories about the character’s true identity. Many are hoping the costume belongs to Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, while others have floated names like Charlize Theron’s Clea or Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie Laufeydottir as possible candidates hiding underneath.

Adding another layer to the speculation, some reports suggest there could be multiple witches serving alongside Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom rather than just one. That would track with earlier reporting claiming several Doom variants exist within the film, though it remains unclear whether these figures are true variants or simply followers wearing masks in his image.

Other theories lean into more personal territory, with some rumors suggesting the witch could be tied to Doom in a familial capacity rather than as an ally. Under that version of events, her fate within the story could serve as the emotional spark that pushes Doom toward his destructive path across the multiverse.

Feige has already teased the broader stakes driving the film’s central conflict during a recent trip to Shanghai. He described the choice facing these heroes, asking whether they will fight to protect their own separate worlds or find a way to work together, in comments shared with Watching Hollywood.

The Latverian Witch was not the only major reveal at the booth this weekend either. Marvel also displayed a comic-accurate Sentinel head alongside costumes for Thor, Cyclops, Gambit, Captain America, Yelena Belova and Sue Storm, reflecting the massive scale of the film’s ensemble cast.

Who do you think is hiding behind the Latverian Witch mask in Avengers Doomsday?

With Marvel’s Hall H panel still ahead this weekend, many fans are hoping the studio finally puts the guessing game to rest. Considering how much buzz a single costume swap has already generated, it is clear Marvel has succeeded in making this particular mystery one of the biggest talking points of the entire convention.

Whether this reveal turns out to be Scarlet Witch, a brand new character or something else entirely, the anticipation heading into Saturday’s panel has never felt higher. Who do you think is hiding beneath the Latverian Witch mask, share your predictions in the comments.
