Marvel’s Mystery Disney+ Show Finally Has a Working Title, and It’s Delightfully Weird

Marvel Studios has been playing an unusually tight-lipped game with its next live-action television project. For weeks, entertainment trackers have been circling a mysterious new production entity without any real sense of what it’s actually building toward, and that kind of secrecy tends to only fuel more speculation.

The paper trail started when eagle-eyed industry watchers spotted a newly formed production company called Veil Productions tied to Marvel Studios, created in the midst of convention season as the studio locked in its 2028 theatrical slate. Unlike other recent Marvel LLCs that were quickly matched to known projects like the untitled X-Men film or Black Panther III, Veil Productions remained an open question, confirmed only as evidence of one additional mystery project moving through the pipeline.

That mystery has now taken a real step forward. The project has officially been approved to begin production under the working title “Slumber Party,” and Marvel is reportedly keeping its options open to develop future seasons of the series down the line, according to Murphy’s Multiverse.

That last detail is notably significant. Marvel Television has leaned heavily on limited series and shorter runs across its Disney+ slate, so any indication that a new show is being built with room to continue beyond a single season suggests the studio sees real long-term potential in whatever “Slumber Party” turns out to be.

Context matters here, because Veil Productions’ progress arrives at an interesting moment for Marvel’s live-action streaming ambitions. Reports had suggested the studio was preparing to scale back its Disney+ output following the release of ‘VisionQuest,’ only for that narrative to get complicated by counter-reporting claiming multiple new live-action series were already quietly moving through development, with announcements expected before long.

Marvel’s official slate beyond ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 3 has remained conspicuously empty, with no confirmed fourth season and nothing locked in for the back half of 2027. A project like Veil Productions filling that gap would make sense, and the timing lines up with a potential production start soon enough to target a late 2027 release, though a slip into 2028 remains just as possible depending on when cameras actually roll.

Working titles at Marvel are notoriously misdirection-heavy, often referencing something thematically adjacent rather than literal plot details, so “Slumber Party” shouldn’t be taken as a literal hint about pajamas and sleepovers. Fans have already floated theories tying the Veil name itself to Marvel Comics character Madeline Berry, who operated under the codename Veil as part of Hank Pym’s Avengers Academy roster, though nothing has confirmed that connection so far.

What is confirmed is that the project appears to be shooting in the UK as a television series, based on prior reporting, which places it alongside other overseas Marvel productions currently in motion. With Marvel Television reportedly gearing up for a substantial “Up Next” panel at New York Comic Con on October 8, fans may not have to wait much longer for official details to finally catch up with the rumors.

Until then, “Slumber Party” joins a growing list of cryptically named Marvel projects that fans will spend the coming weeks trying to decode. Between the production approval and the studio’s openness to multiple seasons, it’s clear Marvel sees this as more than a one-off experiment, even if audiences still have no idea what characters or corner of the MCU it’s actually exploring.
